The minds behind the popular manga Death Note are getting an anime adaptation of their manga Platinum End. Anime production company Pony Canyon revealed the first trailer for this upcoming series.
In the trailer, we get a peak at its animation, as well as some of the action we can expect from Platinum End. While it is in Japanese, there are English subtitles that give a very brief description of what the show will be about. It states, “13 angels suddenly appeared and they choose the God.” It continues, “They have 999 days. The Angel’s Wings, and The Angel’s Arrow. For the Magnificent future, the battle will begin.”

Here is a description of the Platinum End manga from its publisher VIZ that gives a bit more detail on what to expect:
“As his classmates celebrate their middle school graduation, troubled Mirai is mired in darkness. But his battle is just beginning when he receives some salvation from above in the form of an angel. Now Mirai is pitted against 12 other chosen humans in a battle in which the winner becomes the next god of the world. Mirai has an angel in his corner, but he may need to become a devil to survive.”
Additionally, the trailer also revealed a second key visual for Platinum End: protagonist Mirai Kakehashi as well as one of his foes he must defeat in order to become god. You can check out the full visual below.
Hideya Takahashi, who is known for their work on JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind, is directing Platinum End. The anime adaptation will hail from the studio Signal.MD. Shinichi Inotsume will compose while Koji Oodate will handle character design.

Miyu Irino is voicing Platinum End‘s protagonist Mirai Kakehashi. Yui Ogura will lend their voice to the angel Nasse. The cast list also includes M.A.O., Natsuki Hanae, Kaito Ishikawa, Toshiyuki Morikawa, Tomoaki Maeno, Kikuko Inoue, Hikaru Midorikawa, and Ai Kayano.
Platinum End is a manga series written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata. It was serialized in Jump Square between November 2014 and January 2021. The anime television adaptation is set to premiered this October in Japan, and is currently slated to be a complete adaptation of the manga.
