Neon has shared the official trailer for Leviticus, the upcoming horror thriller from Australian filmmaker Adrian Chiarella. The movie had its world premiere at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival last January. It is now scheduled to arrive in theaters on June 19, 2026.
The video introduces two young star-crossed lovers who are forced to undergo a religious conversion ritual by their conservative community. However, the ritual turns into an even more terrifying nightmare when it unexpectedly summons a violent entity, which lures its victims by taking on the form of what the person desires the most. The teenage boys must find a way to escape the supernatural entity and their town before it’s too late. The trailer also provides a glimpse of some of the movie’s suspense-filled sequences.
Leviticus is written and directed by Chiarella in his feature-length directorial debut. The movie stars Mia Wasikowska, Joe Bird, Stacy Clausen, Ewen Leslie, Nicholas Hope, Jeremy Blewitt, Davida McKenzie, and Edwina Wren. Following its world premiere, it has already garnered an approval rating of 96% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 26 reviews. Neon acquired the distribution rights to the film in a seven-figure deal.
“The film follows two teenage boys living in a conservative Christian community in regional Victoria. When their attraction to each other is identified by the local pastor, the pair are subjected to a disturbing conversion ritual, which unknowingly releases a violent entity that terrorizes the town,” reads the synopsis. “As Naim and Ryan attempt to survive the bigotry of their fellow town members, they must also defend themselves against the unleashed spiritual being that takes the form of the thing the boys desire most — each other.”
The first promotional image from DC Studios‘ Clayface movie has finally been revealed, featuring lead star Tom Rhys Harries as up-and-coming actor Matt Hagen.
The image gives fans a glimpse at the character’s promising career before the tragic event that disfigures his face. This comes ahead of the DC Universe body horror film’s highly anticipated theatrical release on October 23, 2026.
What does the Clayface photo tell us about the DCU movie’s themes?
The newly released image shows Matt Hagen on the front page cover of an entertainment magazine, calling him a “rising star.” This is reminiscent of the character’s backstory from Batman: The Animated Series, in which he was introduced as a once-famous actor. In the original show, Hellboy star Ron Perlman voiced Hagen, whose transformation into Clayface was triggered by a car accident that left him with a disfigured face. Fearing for his acting career, he grabbed the opportunity to work with corrupt businessman Roland Daggett, who gave him a beauty cream that could restore his face while also gaining the ability to transform into another person. In exchange for his cream supply, he must commit crimes on behalf of Daggett, including impersonating Bruce Wayne.
At the moment, it remains unknown if the upcoming Clayface movie will also be influenced by some parts of the character’s storyline in the animated show. However, with the magazine cover serving as the film’s first promo, it’s clear that the film’s themes will indeed lean on the character’s obsession with fame, vanity, and image as a celebrity. This makes it the perfect setup for the story’s dive into body horror. This is something that moviegoers have seen before with acclaimed movies like 2024’s The Substance. However, this kind of movie is definitely unique among superhero movies, making Clayface a standout.
The magazine cover of Matt Hagen also seemingly teased the creative team’s intention of holding off the character’s Clayface transformation reveal, building fans’ anticipation for the film. This is also a way for fans to connect with the character’s celebrity persona, making his horrific transformation more heartbreaking and terrifying.
Unlike most of the superhero movies that fans are used to getting, the live-action Clayface movie will tell a more grounded, human story by not relying on massive budgets and CGI effects. In a previous interview, DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn confirmed that the upcoming R-rated film will feature lots of practical effects as they aimed to replicate old-school body horror.
The new DCU film is directed by James Watkins, with horror filmmaker Mike Flanagan writing the screenplay. It is based on the fan-favorite villain created by writer Bill Finger and artist Sheldon Moldoff for DC Comics. The ensemble cast also includes Naomi Ackie, Max Minghella, Eddie Marsan, and David Dencik.

Tyler Treese: Barry, such a pleasure to speak with you. Huge fan of your work, and I love Sleepers. You had obviously worked with Kevin Bacon on Diner, but he’s truly fearful in Sleepers. What made you think of him for this role? It was such a genius stroke of casting.
Barry Levinson: I knew that he was really talented, and I thought he could be interesting in this. Yes, he did Diner, and that was one type of character, but I always thought he had a wider range. When I was working on the script, I was thinking maybe he could play something like this. So it worked out.
Yeah, we got a whole different range of performances, that’s for sure. I think Sleepers really awakened that for other people.
When Sleepers came out, there was controversy about how much was true about it, and it’s even referenced in the text at the end of the film. Decades removed, we can all enjoy the film as the great piece of art that it is, but what were your thoughts on that becoming an issue? It seemed like they were ignoring what was important about it and just arguing over whether it was true or not.
No, I agree. It probably would’ve been better if it didn’t say “based on a true story” or any of those things. It’s not like saying everything is a true story. It was based on something, and the story was worthwhile to tell. It has all the complications to it, and you can ultimately see it different ways. It’s certainly open for people to be talking about, which is one of the aspects of making a movie. I thought it was valid in the story that we were telling.
Tyler Treese: Revisiting this film — it just got a great 4K release. I was interested in the use of narration because narration can be very divisive in films. I thought Sleepers does it so well, and it’s a central part of the film, especially early on. We learn so much from it, and it adds character. What’s the key to doing narration right?
Barry Levinson: In this case, the story is being told, as opposed to being laid out differently. He’s telling the story of what happened when he was younger, so it was valid to the form. What you always wonder about is that you don’t want to overstate things, you don’t want to talk too often, and you don’t want to be too busy throughout the film. It’s about finding the balance that serves the purpose of storytelling and the nature of the film itself.
I wanted to get your thoughts on the ending, because we see them celebrate, but we also get this epilogue that shows some violent ends for these people. It shows that these choices do have an impact down the line. Can you speak to that choice, and avoid a cliché feel-good ending where they all lived happily ever after and turned their lives around, and instead get a more realistic view?
It just seemed appropriate. It’s one of those things when you’re doing a film based on a novel and then adapting it into a screenplay. To be honest, as time has gone by, I can’t remember what was in the book and what was added that I wrote. It’s all a bit of a blur, which isn’t important in terms of who did what. But it was important to say this is what happened in the end. There isn’t a happy ending in that regard, and it seemed appropriate to the film and consistent with the storytelling in general.
Barry, you’ve worked with Robert De Niro so many times. What did you like most about this priest role? Because he still has that street-smart quality to him, which I really like.
Barry Levinson: What I liked about it is that he was a street priest. He grew up on the streets and understands that world. He also understands the religious aspects of it. I like that quality, and he’s an understated character. I thought Bob did a great job. He’s not bombastic or fighting in that way. There’s a quietness about him and a certain quiet dignity in his performance that I thought was very valuable in portraying the priest.

1994’s The Stöned Age isn’t the best-known stoner movie, but it’s one that has managed to hold a spot in a lot of people’s hearts over the past 30 years. Thanks to Lionsgate Limited and its Vestron Video Collector’s Series, we finally have a The Stöned Age Blu-ray release, which is appropriately releasing on 4/20. Let’s take a look if the underrated stoner movie is worth picking up in high def.
“Making its debut on Blu-ray, The Stöned Age follows Hubbs and Joe, in pursuit of partying and girls in Torrance, California, one Saturday night. When they hear about an epic rager going on near the beach, Hubbs and Joe head over, setting in motion a comedic adventure of rad proportions. Hubbs gets the girl! The cops show up! An ex-con loses his temper! And…Joe’s mind gets blown in the gnarliest way imaginable. Featuring a killer lineup of iconic ’70s rock bands,” reads the official synopsis.
Director James Melkonian’s own life of growing up in California is used for the inspiration of 1994’s The Stöned Age, and it’s this lived experience that gives the film a lot of its eccentricities. The dialogue feels very real, the leads are wonderfully goofy, and it’s a reminder of a different time. While darker than many other stoner movies, The Stöned Age has some great moments, including a cameo from Frankie Avalon. It is worth noting that some aspects of the film are definitely products of its time, as it uses many homophobic slurs, so there might be a clash when revisiting it for some.
This is the first time that The Stöned Age has gotten a Blu-ray release, and it’s a good one. The 1080p transfer looks great, as the film looks much better than previous DVD releases, especially for the nighttime scenes. The only disappointment is that it doesn’t have a lossless audio, instead having a Dolby Digital 2.0 track, which is a shame since the film has a truly stellar soundtrack. It still sounds good, and it’s easy to make out all the dialogue, though.
The Stöned Age Blu-ray features several new bonus features, plus a legacy audio commentary with director and co-writer James Melkonian and co-writer Rich Wilkes. The new special features include a 22-minute retrospective called “Back to The Stöned Age,” which has a lot of fun interviews, plus a 25-minute reunion called “Tales from The Blue Torpedo: The Stöned Age Reunion,” which sees Melkonian, Wilkes, Michael Kopelow, and Bradford Tatum reunite decades later. These two major additions are both great watches, and there’s a 2-and-a-half-minute extended scene featuring some dialogue that was cut from the film.
The Stöned Age Blu-ray Review: Final Verdict
While it might not join the best Cheech & Chong movies and Dazed and Confused as classics in the stoner movie canon, James Melkonian’s The Stöned Age isn’t that far behind them. It’s certainly a fun film to revisit, especially thanks to its killer soundtrack, and is a fun addition to anyone’s 4/20 collection.

Interabang Entertainment is back with another Kevin Smith beat ’em up following the success of 2021’s Jay and Silent Bob: Mall Brawl. While the previous game was an homage and throwback to 8-bit brawlers, Chronic Blunt Punch features hand-drawn art and much more depth to enjoy. Fans of the View Askewniverse will find a lot to like here, even if its difficulty curve will definitely test players.
The basics will be familiar to fans of brawlers, as both Jay and Silent Bob can unleash light attacks you can combo and heavy attacks that you can also charge. However, there are a number of different combinations, a skillful block and dodge, plus super and assist attacks that add a lot of depth to the combat. If you’re playing solo, you can also tag between the two characters, which allows you to mitigate damage between the two characters, as health pick-ups are relatively sparse, and it’s generally difficult to revive a character during combat.
Some levels draw from films a bit more than others, as the opening has you going through the Quick Stop from Clerks, but there are a few more generic levels that aren’t as filled with jokes in the background. However, there are many references to films and background details that will make Kevin Smith fans laugh. A lot of familiar faces show up in the game as assists, though some are hidden and will have to be found; they can really help turn the tide of a tough battle if employed correctly.
Chronic Blunt Punch is bigger and better than Mall Brawl in almost every way. One thing that is similar between the two is the difficulty, as the new Jay and Silent Bob game can get quite difficult if playing solo. It’s easy to get ganged up upon, so you really have to focus on crowd management, and I’d recommend playing with a friend if possible. Teamwork can make it much more feasible, although you’ll still have to stay on your toes during the tougher boss fights, as a few of the attacks can be quite tricky to dodge.
Jay and Silent Bob: Chronic Blunt Punch Review: Final Verdict
Jay and Silent Bob: Chronic Blunt Punch is a true love letter to the works of Kevin Smith. Die-hard fans of the View Askewniverse will get the most out of the game, especially if they have an equally devoted buddy to play co-op with, as there are some really great deep cuts to be found. Its difficulty and initial stiffness, which lead to a learning curve, will turn some players off, but those who take the time to master its in-depth brawling will be treated to some fun boss fights and gorgeous art.
SCORE: 8/10

The duo discussed Odenkirk becoming an unlikely action star, their characters, and working together. The film is out in theaters starting today.
“For Sheriff Ulysses (Odenkirk), his provisional posting to the quaint Midwestern American town of Normal was meant to be a welcome respite from both his marital woes and recent moral injuries in the line of duty. But when a botched bank robbery interrupts the municipality’s tranquil pace, a dark secret is inadvertently exposed, and Ulysses soon discovers that the town is anything but its namesake,” says the synopsis.
Tyler Treese: Bob, I used to watch Mr. Show religiously, and for as much range as you would show, I never would’ve guessed you’d become such an action star. It’s been so cool to see. You’ve completely risen to the occasion in these movies. What’s been most rewarding about this unlikely rise and now doing three of these movies written by Derek Kolstad?
Bob Odenkirk: It’s fun to play a prank on the universe and on all your fans and friends. It really is fun to do something so outside the box. Of course, the fact that it worked, which is to say I got to do more than one, is crazy.
Because obviously Nobody, if it hadn’t worked, I would’ve looked like an absolute midlife crisis idiot, which I don’t mind looking like. I don’t mind. That’s the thing. If it didn’t work, I would’ve been like, “Yeah, well, who would’ve thought that would work? Why?”
But showbiz is a business that it’s hard, but you can reinvent yourself. Of course, I gave it everything I had. I never stopped working to do a good job, but that doesn’t mean it’ll work out. I feel very lucky that it did.
This takes place in Normal, Minnesota, and Minnesota has a very iconic accent. How was it finding your voice and that sort of Midwest sensibility that is all throughout this film?
Lena Headey: I mean, I think Moira had a sort of outside-the-small-town sensibility. You know, we discussed it. She spent time in New York and had come back to the town, and knew everything that was going on. She’s a barkeeper, so she hears and sees it all.
Bob, your character is clearly in a rut. He’s afraid to make decisions, and then he is thrown into a situation where he really has to act. What did you like most about this character arc?
Bob Odenkirk: Well, I’ve spent a long time now playing characters who are younger than me, and I think sort of more naive about life than me. So, playing a guy like Ulysses, who’s almost too worn down, he’s almost too beat up. But I like playing somebody who had lived life and kind of gotten set back on his heels. It just felt like a guy who was my age and maturity level, so I appreciated that.
Lena, there’s this great scene between you and Bob near the jail cells later on. It’s really one of the key story beats. How was it having that showdown with Bob, and what stood out about him as a scene partner?
Lena Headey: Bob’s very shut down and kind of sticks to the words, and you’re not really allowed to play. So it was pretty frustrating to be fair.
Odenkirk: Yeah, you know me…
Headey: He’s a stickler. No, Bob’s really generous and allows me to play.
Odenkirk: Game recognizes game. The only showdown, as they say on the streets…
Headey: Midlife recognizes midlife.
Odenkirk: Did you ever see The Bear? The TV show, The Bear? You ever see the Christmas episode? You know what I’m talking about? Well, that’s me and Lena in that scene in the jail cell. It’s two actors. They got some meat on the bone, and they both tear at it. It’s great.

Sydney Chandler will join the DC Universe after all. The Alien: Earth actor has confirmed that she will be joining the superhero universe as a new member of the Creature Commandos.
Who is Sydney Chandler playing in the DCU?
Chandler’s DCU casting comes only a week after she was reported to be in the running for the role of Maxima in James Gunn’s Man of Tomorrow. Adria Arjona was ultimately cast as the warrior queen from the planet Almerac, who was first introduced to the pages of DC Comics in 1990 by writer Roger Stern and artist George Pérez.
After Jeff Sneider reported that Chandler would voice the immortal vampire Nosferata in Creature Commandos Season 2, the actor confirmed the casting herself on her Instagram Story. She shared a piece of Creature Commandos Season 1 art and captioned it, “… soon …,” followed by bat, blood drop, and needle emojis.
Created by Karl Kesel and Tom Grummett, Nosferata first appeared in Superboy #50 in 1998. In the comics, she was one of the many genetically evolved experiments conducted by Project Moreau in the 1940s. It is unclear how much of her comic book origin will be adapted in the DCU.
Nosferata made a silent cameo in the Season 1 finale of Creature Commandos, where she was shown as one of the new additions to the title team. The rest of the new Task Force M lineup includes G. I. Robot, Khalis, King Shark, Doctor Phosphorus, and Weasel, with The Bride as team leader.
The first season of Creature Commandos premiered on Max in December 2024, with a second season ordered that same month. The adult animated superhero series was the first project released in the DCU. By the time Season 2 arrives, the shared universe will have expanded with at least two more shows (Peacemaker Season 2, Lanterns) and three films (Superman, Supergirl, and Clayface).
While a release date for Creature Commandos remains unknown, production has been underway since June 2025, making a possible December 2026 release extremely likely, but again, unconfirmed. Plot details remain under wraps for the second season, although Gunn has shared that it will be set after the events of Peacemaker Season 2.

Following Tom Cruise and director Alejandro González Iñárritu’s appearance at CinemaCon, it seems like Warner Bros. is planning a different release plan for Digger to ensure the highly anticipated movie’s critical and commercial success. Cruise’s black comedy film is currently slated to arrive in theaters on October 2, 2026.
Why Digger won’t make the same mistake as Mission Impossible 8 & Joker 2?
According to Deadline, Warner Bros. Pictures is unlikely to set the world premiere of Digger at any of the fall festivals this year, including the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, despite recent speculation. This is surprising given that most of Iñárritu’s popular movies debuted at major film festivals, such as 2022’s Bardo at Venice. However, it’s worth noting that one of the acclaimed Mexican filmmaker’s most critically and commercially successful movies, 2015’s The Revenant, wasn’t released at any festival.
If Digger doesn’t debut at a fall festival, it would likely help Warner Bros. avoid making the same mistake they made with Joker 2. Terrible reviews at the 2024 Venice Film Festival premiere of the Joaquin Phoenix-led DC sequel significantly affected the movie’s box office performance. Because of the negative early reception, the movie grossed only about $208 million, a stark contrast to the first installment’s $1 billion gross.

In a ridiculous, hilarious undercover operation to stop an attack, Stallworth’s fellow detective, Flip Zimmerman (Adam Driver), begins infiltrating the chapter in person while Stallworth makes calls over the phone. The comedy shifts as the undercover operation becomes increasingly dangerous. Equal parts hilarious and harrowing, the film won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay, making the film Spike Lee’s first competitive Oscar win.
The Irishman (2019)

While it’s very different from what we typically think of when we imagine a serial killer movie, The Good Nurse has everything you’d want from a crime film. Chastain’s character risks everything to help put this man behind bars and expose the institutional failures that allowed it all to happen in the first place.
Knives Out: Wake Up the Dead Man (2025)

At its core, Superman: The Movie treated its source material with reverence. This was surprising to many given comic books were seen as children’s entertainment at the time. However, the producers were determined to fashion a fun family film that took the Man of Steel seriously.
This was reflected in the film’s creative team and cast. With The Omen director Robert Donner and a story by The Godfather screenwriter Mario Puzo (who also co-wrote the screenplay), it was clear WB had no intention of making a simple kiddie picture. This was further emphasized by an ensemble featuring great dramatic actors, like Marlon Brando as Jor-El and Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor.
Despite that pedigree, it was the casting of then-unknown Christopher Reeve at Superman that truly set the tone of the movie. Even The Joker is torn between the showman he presents himself as and the monster who wants to be reassured everyone is as twisted as he is.
The Batman (2022)
When 2022’s The Batman was announced, many wondered what it had to offer. The savior of Gotham City had been adapted and readapted several times before in feature films at that point. However, the most recent superhero movie to feature the Dark Knight did have one new thing to offer; a detective story.
Strangely enough, most of the Batman movies do not show him doing much detective work. The few that do (like Batman Forever) are decidedly silly and what mysteries exist are limited to The Riddler’s riddles. This is odd considering the character is known as “the World’s Greatest Detective” in the comics.
The Batman, however, borrows heavily from several modern Batman detective stories, particularly The Long Halloween and Year Zero. It also builds its story around the mystery of The Riddler’s identity. Over the course of the film the inexperienced Dark Knight realizes he must be more than a deterrent or a warrior to be an effective crime fighter.
It is not enough for a superhero to punish the wicked. They must also inspire others to virtue. This is reflected in the film’s closing monologue, which reveals the hidden heart of Batman’s character. “People need hope,” Batman says. “To know someone’s out there for them.”
