Netflix has shared the official My Oxford Year trailer for its upcoming romantic comedy led by Sofia Carson (Purple Hearts) and Corey Mylchreest (Queen Charlotte). The movie is scheduled to make its debut on August 1.

“When Anna, an ambitious young American woman, sets out for Oxford University to fulfill a childhood dream, she has her life completely on track until she meets a charming and clever local who profoundly alters both of their lives,” reads the official synopsis.

What happens in the My Oxford Year trailer?

The video introduces Carson as a young woman from New York City who enrolls at Oxford University, where she meets a charming professor. The trailer provides viewers with a glimpse of their love story from its beginning up to the challenges they’ll face. The ensemble cast also includes Dougray Scott, Catherine McCormack, Harry Trevaldwyn, Esmé Kingdom, Nikhil Parmar, Poppy Gilbert, Romina Cocca, Yadier Fernández, Nia Anisah, and Hugh Coles.

My Oxford Year is directed by BAFTA winner Iain Morris (The Inbetweeners) from a screenplay written by Allison Burnett and Melissa Osborne, based on Julia Whelan’s 2018 novel. It is produced by Laura Quicksilver and George Berman, with Caroline Levy executive producing. The film is a production by Temple Hill Entertainment.

This marks Carson’s latest collaboration with Netflix after previously starring in 2020’s dance comedy Feel the Beat and 2022’s romance drama Purple Hearts. The Descendants alum was most recently seen in the Netflix movies Carry On and The Life List. As for Mylchreest, the British actor gained recognition last year for his leading performance in the Bridgerton prequel miniseries Queen Charlotte, in which he played the role of young King George III. The upcoming My Oxford Year movie will serve as Mylchreest’s feature-length acting debut.

Avengers: Seth Green Gives Update on Howard the Duck’s MCU Future

Seth Green recently opened up about the possibility of Howard the Duck appearing in Avengers: Doomsday, telling fans not to get their hopes up.

What did Seth Green say about Howard the Duck’s MCU future?

Speaking to The Direct, Green — who played Howard the Duck in his brief cameos throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe and in Marvel’s What If…? — was asked about the character showing up in Doomsday. Green jokingly replied that he has “zero confidence that that’s ever going to happen.”

“I’m pretty sure I would have heard earlier that that was gonna happen,” Green said. “Nobody gave me a tip sheet or teed me up with talking points . . . So no, I have zero confidence that that’s ever going to happen.”

Despite that, Green said he considers playing Howard one of his “greatest privileges,” and does genuinely love it.

“No, nothing of any substance . . . I love [playing the character]. It’s one of my greatest privileges. You don’t even know, man, how much this means to have done it in all the ways that I have. It’s awesome.”

The cast for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, even without Howard, is going to be massive. So far, several major stars from the MCU have been confirmed to be in the movie, including Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby’s Invisible Woman/Sue Storm, Anthony Mackie’s Captain America, Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Letitia Wright’s Shuri/Black Panther, and Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man.

New James Bond Movie Gets Exciting Update After Denis Villeneuve Hire

The next James Bond movie has a new director, and now more information has come to light on when fans can expect Denis Villeneuve’s spy movie will come out.

What is the latest new James Bond movie update?

In a recent report from Jeff Sneider of The InSneider, the current plans for the upcoming movie are for Amazon MGM Studios to find a writer, who will co-write the film with Villeneuve based on his idea. This will happen while Villeneuve is working on Dune: Messiah, and once it wraps, Villeneuve will join in the writing process as casting gets underway.

As for a release date, the report mentions that the film could be ready by 2027, but a 2028 release date is more likely due to Villeneuve’s busy schedule and the fact that the third Dune movie is already set to release in either late 2026 or early 2027.

Sneider also noted that at least one source said folks were “stunned” that Villeneuve was the choice. While he was one of several directors who met with Amazon MGM, he was reportedly considered the most unavailable and expensive option of them all.

The James Bond franchise is now in the hands of Amazon MGM Studios following the shocking announcement earlier this year that longtime producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson would be stepping back from their long-time status as producers on the franchise, allowing Amazon MGM Studios to take creative control of the franchise. The agreement sees Amazon MGM Studios and the duo forming a new joint venture house to house the intellectual property rights for the Bond franchise.

The three parties will remain co-owners of the Bond series, but now Amazon MGM Studios will have creative control, something that Broccoli and Wilson had retained before. Prior to the announcement, both Wilson and Broccoli had been known as fiercely protective over the franchise, but in a statement on the move, Wilson noted that he was stepping back to focus more on art and charitable projects, while Broccoli said she would be focusing on other projects now.

Information about the future of the James Bond franchise, as well as what the next film will be about, remains mysterious for now.

Fantastic Four fans are worried that John Malkovich may have been removed from the MCU movie.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps arrives in United States theaters in less than a month. The Marvel movie is directed by Matt Shakman and stars Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing, and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch.

What do we know about the Fantastic Four cuts?

While AMC Theatres listed the Fantastic Four movie’s runtime as two hours and 10 minutes (130 minutes) last month, the information was updated earlier this week. The film now has a runtime of 1 hour and 55 minutes (115 minutes).

This has led some to speculate that some scenes have been cut out of The Fantastic Four: First Steps. This isn’t all that unusual, as it happens from time to time with big blockbuster movies (typically it will happen earlier on in the post-production process, but it’s still not unheard of).

Fans have now noticed, however, that Malkovich’s name doesn’t appear anywhere on The Walt Disney Company’s official website page for the MCU movie. Malkovich’s casting was originally announced in May 2024, though it has not yet been clarified who he is supposed to play in the film. This has led many to wonder if Malkovich’s scenes have been removed from the film.

It’s worth noting that Malkovich’s name is still on Marvel’s website page for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, meaning Malkovich fans may not need to panic just yet.

The synopsis for the movie reads, “Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces Marvel’s First Family—Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm/Human Torch and Ben Grimm/The Thing as they face their most daunting challenge yet.”

James Bond: Runner-up Director of New 007 Movie Revealed

Yesterday, it was officially confirmed that Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Denis Villeneuve has been tapped to direct the next James Bond movie for Amazon MGM Studios. Before Villeneuve was chosen, there were actually four other directors who pitched on the project.

Who was the second choice to direct the new James Bond movie?

In a new report, it has been revealed that acclaimed filmmakers Edward Berger, Paul King, Jonathan Nolan, and Edgar Wright were also part of the studio’s short list. Insider Jeff Sneider claimed that the final choices was between the Dune director and Berger, with the studio ultimately enlisting Villeneuve for the new 007 movie. Berger is best known for his work on award-winning movies Conclave and All Quiet on the Western Front.

“Some of my earliest movie-going memories are connected to 007,” Villeneuve said in a previous statement. “I grew up watching James Bond films with my father, ever since Dr. No with Sean Connery. I’m a die-hard Bond fan. To me, he’s sacred territory. I intend to honor the tradition and open the path for many new missions to come. This is a massive responsibility, but also, incredibly exciting for me and a huge honor. Amy, David, and I are absolutely thrilled to bring him back to the screen. Thank you to Amazon MGM Studios for their trust.”

At the moment, further plans for the next James Bond movie have yet to be revealed, with casting speculations about which actor would be chosen to become the next 007 continuing to circulate online. Among the popular rumored choices are Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Richard Madden, Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, and Henry Cavill. Prior to the Dune director signing on to project, Amazon MGM Studios recently obtained creative control over the iconic 007 franchise through a new joint venture deal with James Bond franchise co-owners Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.

Compulsion is a thriller movie that comes from director Neil Marshall, who is known for making 2005’s The Descent. The new film stars Charlotte Kirk (Ocean’s 8), Anna-Maria Sieklucka (365 Days), Zach McGowan (Dracula Untold), and more.

What happens in the Compulsion trailer?

The Compulsion trailer largely follows two women, played by Kirk and Sieklucka, and is set on the island of Malta. While there appears to be some sexual chemistry and tension growing between the two of them, there’s also a series of gruesome murderers that are taking place that they may or may not be involved with.

“Compulsion is set against the breathtaking backdrop of Malta, where two women become entangled in a string of horrifying murders,” the synopsis for the movie reads.

This marks Kirk’s fourth consecutive collaboration with Marshall, as the two of them previously worked together on 2020’s The Reckoning, 2022’s The Lair, and 2024’s Duchess. Kirk and Marshall co-wrote the screenplay for Compulsion together, while Krystyna Sellnerova serves as a producer on the film.

Beyond the aforementioned titles, Marshall’s filmography also includes 2002’s Dog Soldiers, 2008’s Doomsday, 2010’s Centurion, and 2019’s Hellboy. He also wrote the screenplay for 1998’s Killing Time and directed a segment of the 2015 Tales of Halloween anthology film, while, in television, he’s helmed episodes of Game of Thrones, Black Sails, Hannibal, Westworld, and more.

Compulsion will be released in the United States in September 2025 from Saban Films. Prior to that, the movie will hold its world premiere at the Mediterrane Film Festival in Malta on June 28, 2025. Kirk and Sieklucka will be special guests at the screening, which will be followed by a Q&A session.

What is Chris Hemsworth’s Avengers: Doomsday Thor workout?

Speaking with The Independent, Hemsworth’s long-time trainer, Luke Zocchi, said that the two of them “haven’t pushed anywhere near as hard on this film” compared to past Thor workouts.

“I hate to say it, but I think we’re just getting a little bit older,” he said. “We’re not killing ourselves as much and always thinking more is better. Instead, we’re being a bit more in-tune with our bodies.”

Zocchi explained that, when they were preparing for Thor: Love and Thunder, Hemsworth went “all-in on a programme comprising regular bodybuilding, strongman training and 450-calorie meals, consumed 10 times per day.”

For Avengers: Doomsday, however, Hemsworth “adopted a one day on, one day off approach to lifting weights,” and “follows a rough push-pull-legs split – one workout focuses on pushing muscles such as the chest, shoulders and triceps, the next hits pulling muscles like the back and biceps, and a third targets the legs and glutes.”

Hemsworth’s weekly plan, Zocchi said, is a push day, cardio day, pull day, cardio day, leg day, cardio day, and then repeat.

“We’re being a bit more in-tune with our bodies this time. [If Chris says] ‘I’m feeling a bit flat today,’ we might just do some steady-state cardio then come back tomorrow and focus on our lifting,” Zocchi said. “…We mix it up just to keep him moving,. We might do 10 minutes of walking on an incline treadmill, then 10 minutes on a StairMaster, five minutes on a rower, five minutes on a SkiErg – just keep moving every 10 minutes so you don’t get too bored. We’ve been doing a fair bit of boxing recently as well. Before I started working with Chris, that was my background, so for this film we’ve been doing more of that. He’s been running a bit too, but not crazy long distances.

“…It will be interesting to see how different he looks in the film. I don’t think he’s as big as he was in Love and Thunder, and that wasn’t the goal either. Chris felt uncomfortable with how big he was on that one, and he wasn’t enjoying how much food he had to eat. For this one, he’s eating four or five meals [per day], but his diet is nowhere near as strict. We’re not ramming the food down his throat, but he still looks great.”

Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday arrives on December 18, 2026.

Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy has been one of this year’s most charming surprises. Who expected the fourth movie of a rom-com series to tug at the heartstrings so much? The Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy Blu-ray allows fans to own the final chapter in the romance series, which ends on its strongest note since the original 2001 phenomenon.

“Two-time Academy Award winner Renee Zellweger returns to the role that established a romantic-comedy heroine for the ages, as Bridget, now a widowed single mother, must juggle work, parenthood, and romance. With the help of her loyal friends, Bridget navigates encounters with a younger man and a series of awkward interactions with her son’s science teacher as she strives to forge a new path toward life and love,” says the official description.

Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy Blu-ray

The Bridget Jones sequels haven’t quite lived up to the original’s charm, but they’ve always had some great moments that reminded us of why we love these characters. Mad About the Boy starts with the shocking news that Colin Firth’s Mark Darcy has passed away, and we meet a very different Bridget, one who is in mourning and having to be the rock for her children. Four years have passed, which means Bridget is reluctantly back on the dating scene for more hijinks and even some incredibly mature moments that feel earned rather than out of place. Zellweger hasn’t lost a step comedically and is a real joy to watch throughout the film.

While Hugh Grant’s Daniel Cleaver returns, and is a delight in every scene, the two romantic interests wind up being the much younger Roxster McDuff, played by Leo Woodall, and schoolteacher Scott Walliker (the always great Chiwetel Ejiofor). This is less of a love triangle, as the relationships don’t overlap, but both relationships inform each other, and the film feels like a completed story as a result. Ejiofor is particularly great, sharing some emotionally affecting scenes with both Zellweger and the young actor who plays Bridget’s son.

The Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy Blu-ray features over 20 minutes of bonus features. There are four deleted scenes totaling six and a half minutes, one of which features more of Isla Fisher’s character (who I really wish had more screentime), and they’re all relatively fun to watch. There are also three featurettes to sink your teeth into: “Back to Bridget” is a five-minute video taking a look at the series’ legacy and updating Bridget’s character; “Bridget 4.0” is a standard making-of feature totaling 6.5 minutes and features interviews with the cast and crew; and “Mad About the Boys” is a five-minute video look at the multiple love interests in the film. They’re all worth checking out once, and Hugh Grant is as charming as ever in his appearances, but they’re not going to be the reason you purchase.

Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy Blu-ray Review: Final Verdict

The Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy Blu-ray features a strong visual transfer and a Dolby TrueHD 7.1 audio track, which is more than enough for a rom-com. All of the Bridget Jones movies have been fun, even if the trilogy had diminishing returns after the first, but Mad About the Boy is genuinely moving on an emotional level. It’s a wonderful comedy that also takes time to explore grief and moving forward from it. Both Zellweger and Ejiofor do a great job of putting forth a mature relationship that seems like a nice ending point for the series, which has been a rom-com staple since 2001.

What happens in the new Toxic Avenger trailer?

The new Toxic Avenger trailer sees Dinklage playing a janitor named Winston. Winston appears to be a pretty regular guy who typically avoids violence and is trying to connect with his son, played by Jacob Tremblay; everything changes, however, following an accident that transforms him into a mutant vigilante.

Much bloodshed then follows, as Dinklage’s character is seen decapitating and brutally killing a number of people. There’s also some new footage of Kevin Bacon and Elijah Wood’s characters, among others.

“When a downtrodden janitor, Winston Gooze, is exposed to a catastrophic toxic accident, he’s transformed into a new kind of hero: The Toxic Avenger,” the official synopsis reads. “Now, Toxie must rise from outcast to savior, taking on ruthless corporate overlords and corrupt forces who threaten his son, his friends, and his community. In a world where greed runs rampant… justice is best served radioactive.”

The film is a remake of the 1984 movie, which was directed by Michael Herz and Lloyd Kaufman, of the same name. That film was followed by three sequels: 1989’s The Toxic Avenger Part II, 1989’s The Toxic Avenger Part III: The Last Temptation of Toxie, and 2000’s Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV.

The Toxic Avenger originally premiered at Fantastic Fest in September 2023. It struggled, however, to find a distributor until Cineverse finally acquired the rights in January 2025. Produced by Legendary Entertainment, The Toxic Avenger now arrives in United States theaters on August 29, 2025. The movie will be unrated.

The screen cuts to black before Elio replies, leaving the audience curious.

The final post-credits scene of Elio plays after all the main credits and thank-you rollout. In a strange but humorous twist, the screen shows a cartoon green lizard in a dark void, repeatedly typing the lizard emoji on a smartphone. With every tap on the phone, a robotic voice says “Lizard.” While seemingly random, this clip teases Pixar’s upcoming project, Hoppers, scheduled for release in March 2026, making this not just an end note for Elio but a preview of what’s next from the studio.

Actress Bryce Dallas Howard has come out to share her experience while filming her first major movie, The Village, noting that she had a childhood crush on her co-star, Joaquin Phoenix. In a recent discussion, the Jurassic World star recounted her time on the sets of the M. Night Shyamalan flick while doubling down on her excitement while working with Phoenix.

Bryce Dallas Howard details experience working with ‘crush’ Joaquin Phoenix

During her recent appearance on a podcast, The Help actress revealed that she had a huge crush on Joaquin Phoenix while growing up.

Explaining how it was to feature beside the Academy Award winner, Bryce Dallas Howard stated on Podcrushed, “I had the biggest crush on Joaquin Phoenix when I was seven years old, and he was Leaf Phoenix, and he was in Parenthood. And it was insane being like, ‘Oh, you want me to play a character who’s been in love with this guy, like, her whole life? Sure.”

The Village was Howard’s first prominent outing as an actress, where she portrayed the role of Ivy Walker. Helmed by M. Night Shyamalan, who is famous for concluding his films with an unconventional twist, the thriller revolves around the escapades of an isolated community that leads a secluded life in fear of a mysterious monster that supposedly lurks in the woods surrounding its town. However, a chain of unsuspecting events starts to take place when a blind girl dares to venture into the forest to seek help after a member of her community gets injured.

Talking about her breakout role, which incidentally happened opposite Joaquin Phoenix, Bryce Dallas Howard noted that the part was “very magical.” She also levied heavy praise on her fellow cast members, which included the likes of Adrien Brody, William Hurt, and Sigourney Weaver, among others, labeling them as an “unbelievable group of people.”

Howard even lauded Shyamalan for providing her with the “career-defining moment” of her life, stating, “That was very, I mean, incredibly courageous of Night to cast me, and he was really supportive.”
