The second part of the final season of the hit anime is available on Funimation, Crunchyroll, and Hulu. The first part premiered on NHK General TV back in December 2020.

Attack on Titan began as a manga series written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama. It was serialized in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine between September 2009 and April 2021. The first three seasons of the anime television adaptation were produced by Wit Studios and aired between April 2013 and July 2019. While the manga has concluded, the anime is still ongoing.

David Hayter To Write TV Adaptation of American McGee’s Alice

David Hayter — who wrote the first X-Men film and is the voice actor of the iconic video game character Solid Snake in the Metal Gear series — has been brought on to write the TV adaptation of American McGee’s Alice.

According to a recent report from The Hollywood Reporter, Hayter will write the series in partnership with Abandon Entertainment. The news comes after Ted Field’s Radar Pictures acquired the rights to adapt the game series. The adaptation will reportedly be a drama series that will aim to tell the story of the games to a larger audience.

As of this moment, no broadcast or streaming company has stepped forward to acquire the project, so there’s very little news regarding the release or even what the show will focus on. Originally designed by American James McGee, the games were based on the Lewis Carroll novels Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass, and told a more dark and horror-themed version of the iconic stories.

American McGee’s Alice and Alice: Madness Returns game series is a groundbreaking reimagining of the classic tale. It takes you into the heart of a corrupted Wonderland and throws light into shadowy corners the world has never seen. I am beyond excited to bring this world of madness and wonder to a global audience,” Hayter said in a statement.

Although Hayter is perhaps best known among fans for his voice acting work in the legendary Metal Gear series, he has been behind some big Hollywood projects. Hayter wrote the original X-Men film in 2000, and also co-wrote 2003’s X2. Hayter also has writing credits on 2002’s The Scorpion King, as well as 2009’s highly praised Watchmen film.

The Book of Boba Fett – Chapter 5 Review: Is This The Mandalorian?

Every week, I begin my review of the new episode of The Book of Boba Fett by stating that a new episode of this series starring Boba Fett as the main character has arrived on Disney+. Unfortunately, I don’t think I can write that with a straight face with this episode. Because while you may click on “Episode 5: Return of the Mandalorian” expecting an episode of The Book of Boba Fett, you may be surprised to find that Disney accidentally uploaded the season 3 premiere of The Mandalorian instead. This has to be the only rational explanation, right?

In Episode 4 of this series, we got a few hints at the return of Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal). The final scene of that episode has Fennec Shand stating that credits could buy muscle if they knew where to look, as we hear some notes of Ludwig Goransson’s Mandalorian theme. It left the episode on a high note as we wondered if the next episode would feature the war between Boba’s army and the Pykes or if it would simply feature Boba and Fennec finally leaving Tatooine to search the galaxy for Djarin. Either option would have made for a fantastic episode that set the series into high gear.

The opening scene features Djarin entering a slaughterhouse looking for Kaba Baiz. It’s great to see Djarin again over a year after his emotional season finale, and we hear him say his iconic line: “I can bring you in warm, or I can bring you in cold.” This leads to a fantastic action sequence that immediately reintroduces the audience to Djarin’s power as he fights the Klatooinians. We also see Djarin wield the Darksaber after he won it from Moff Gideon, and it’s always a wickedly fun time to see the Darksaber in action. It’s a phenomenal opening scene that really should have just stayed an opening scene.

Once the title card appeared on screen and we continued to follow Djarin, I found myself slightly baffled. As the episode went on, I almost wanted to refresh the browser to ensure that I was watching the right show. Later, Boba meets the Armorer and Paz Vizsla, two survivors of the Mandalorian tribe. They discuss the Darksaber, the fate of Moff Gideon, name-drop Bo-Katan, and Djarin gets the Armorer to melt his beskar spear into a little gift for Grogu, the child Djarin watched over in his series. How is any of this relevant to the Boba Fett storyline we have been following for four episodes?

MORE: The Mandalorian’s Return Leads to Best The Book of Boba Fett Episode Yet

It’s not. It’s not relevant at all. Episode 5 does not continue the story threads left off by the first four episodes of The Book of Boba Fett. Instead, every storyline referenced in this scene is a direct continuation of season 2 of The Mandalorian, a completely different show. Anyone who hasn’t seen that series is left in the dark with this episode that is almost wholly disconnected from the first four episodes. There are no references to the Pyke Syndicate, the Tusken Raiders, or Mayor Mok Shaiz, whom the series has been hinting at as its primary antagonist. The sequence with Djarin, the Armorer, and Vizla adds nothing to what the show has been setting up.

Think about the duel between Djarin and Vizla as Vizla attempts to claim the Darksaber for himself. It’s well-choreographed, but it lacks any emotional weight as these two characters had never been in this show before this episode. Then, Djarin meets Peli Motto on Tatooine, where she replaces his Razor Crest ship with an N-1 starfighter. A scene with the Jawas finally connects the episode to the main storyline where Peli tells Djarin about the Pykes who control the spice trade and rule over Tatooine.

As Djarin test flights the starfighter, he goes through Beggar’s Canyon, a solid reference dating back to 1977 when Luke Skywalker flew towards the Death Star saying, “It’ll be just like Beggar’s Canyon back home.” It’s a fun sequence primarily due to Bryce Dallas Howard’s exceptional direction, and the episode ends with Fennec arriving to recruit Djarin to help Boba in the coming war. This now marks three consecutive episodes that end with the characters saying, “we have a war coming up, and we have to get ready.” The show moves at a snail’s pace for a war that can’t come soon enough.

MORE: The Book of Boba Fett Primer: What Is the Darksaber?

Now, as an episode of The Mandalorian, this was perfectly acceptable. But as an episode of The Book of Boba Fett, this was dreadful. The problem with this show is that it stands on the shoulders of superior films and shows to make itself appear tall, but the story cannot stand on its own two feet. The series relies on your preexisting knowledge and love of Star Wars to get you to like this show, but the fact that they threw in an obvious backdoor pilot for season 3 of The Mandalorian demonstrates that this story has so little meat on its bones that it can’t stand on its own as a good show.

While it was nice to step away from the drab setting of Tatooine in this episode, and Howard remains a talented director, this episode only rubs salt in the wound that Star Wars fans aren’t willing to admit they have. That wound is the unfortunate reality that this show lacks a compelling story and is actively wasting its protagonist by throwing him away for an entire episode. Some have argued this is the best episode of the series so far. However, if the best episode of a show is the one that most closely resembles an episode of a completely different show and the titular character is absent, that exposes a gaping hole in the very concept of a series titled The Book of Boba Fett. If there’s anything this show has been good at, it’s been making you wish you were watching something better.

SCORE: 4/10

As ComingSoon’s review policy explains, a score of 5 equates to “Poor.” The negatives overweigh the positive aspects making it a struggle to get through.

Disclosure: The critic watched the episode on Disney+ for ComingSoon’s The Book of Boba Fett – Chapter 5 review.

Why Fans of Yellowstone Should Watch Taylor Sheridan’s Wind River

Fans of the Kevin Costner-led series Yellowstone should take a few hours this weekend to watch Wind River on Netflix. As directed by Taylor Sheridan, co-creator (and sometimes director) of Yellowstone, this gritty tale shares many of the same characteristics as its TV counterpart, particularly in its views of Native American culture and the rugged wilderness — except rather than fighting over the vast plains of Montana, characters scramble to flee the snow-covered mountains of Wyoming.

“Cory Lambert is a wildlife officer who finds the body of an 18-year-old woman on an American Indian reservation in snowy Wyoming. When the autopsy reveals that she was raped, FBI agent Jane Banner arrives to investigate,” says the official synopsis. “Teaming up with Lambert as a guide, the duo soon find that their lives are in danger while trying to solve the mystery of the teen’s death.:

RELATED: Yellowstone Prequel 1883 Becomes Most Watched Premiere on Paramount+

Wind River, starring Marvel Cinematic Universe alums Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen, opened in 2017 and grossed a modest $45 million against an $11 million budget. And while it earned high praise from the likes of Peter Travers who thought the film packed “an elemental power that knocks you for a loop” and praised the performances of Renner and Olsen as well as Sheridan’s unconventional storytelling style, this gritty “western” doesn’t pop up often in discussions amongst the general moviegoing public like it probably should.

At any rate, if you haven’t seen Wind River, here are a few reasons why you should check it out.

The Stars

Forget Hawkeye and WandaVision; if you really want to see Renner and Olsen dazzle on the screen, look no further than Wind River. He plays U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service agent Cory Lambert who stumbles upon the frozen remains of a young woman, and she plays the no-nonsense FBI Special Agent Jane Banner tasked with investigating the murder. Together, the pair form a fascinating team — he’s a quiet man with a tragic past who knows the lay of the land and the dangers hidden within it; she hails from modern society where a call for backup isn’t met with a laugh, and murder scenes aren’t blanketed with ten inches of snow overnight.

I don’t want to spoil the film for anyone who hasn’t seen it, suffice to say the pair must eventually see eye-to-eye in order to solve the horrific crime. Through it all, Renner and Olsen display remarkable chemistry as an odd couple who practically hail from different planets.

RELATED: Tom Hanks to Guest Star in Paramount+’s Yellowstone Prequel 1883

There’s a terrific scene early on when Jane awkwardly meets her rugged male companions amidst the freezing elements, and it’s hard to tell which is sending more shivers down her spine. Olsen does a fantastic job conveying a hardened agent striving to maintain her authority in an awkward, even foreign environment.

Later, Cory and Jane share an intimate moment together where he reveals the details surrounding his missing daughter, and, as typical, Renner demonstrates a knack for what I like to call “subtle emoting.” You can see his pain, but only briefly, via subtle movements or gestures. Renner’s performance isn’t overdone, but expressive enough to draw real emotion.

The Supporting Players

I love great acting and, as stated above, Wind River has plenty of it. Renner and Olsen carry the film, but supporting stars Graham Greene and Gil Birmingham (of Yellowstone and Hell or High Water fame) bring plenty of fire. As the Tribal Police Chief, Ben Shoyo, Greene portrays an individual who has seen and lost too much to truly invest himself emotionally in any case. While Birmingham delivers an emotional performance as a grieving father trying to make sense of his daughter’s death.

As an aside, for another great supporting turn by Birmingham, other than Yellowstone, check out Hell or High Water (also scripted by Sheridan), where he plays a Texas Ranger pursuing two bank robbers alongside Jeff Bridges.

ComingSoon spoiler alert

That One Scene

Yeah, sorry, I’ve got to venture into spoiler territory here, because my favorite scene in Wind River is an intense shootout that takes place during the climax. Actually, there are two really intense moments broken up by one perfectly placed flashback that explains exactly what happened to the victim. The first occurs when Jane and her team arrive at a drilling site where the dead girl’s boyfriend works. What starts as a cordial bit of questioning quickly escalates into a wicked stand-off.

Following that bit, Jane approaches Matt’s door and, well, all hell breaks loose. I had to pick my jaw off the floor the first time I saw that scene.

A couple of years ago, I had the opportunity to visit Tombstone where I watched a reenactment of the famed Gunfight at the O.K. Corral. Having watched a number of films and documentaries on the fabled event, I was astonished to learn that the gunfight itself lasted a brief — but still very intense — 30 seconds.

I imagine that real-life moment looked and sounded much like the shootout in Wind River, albeit with fewer machine guns, which is actually pretty wild to think about.

The Underlying Narrative

On the surface, Wind River is a rather simplistic murder mystery, but percolating under the surface are darker truths about Native American life. Sheridan’s story is centered around the injustices faced by Native American women on a daily basis.

“Sexual assault of a Native woman by a non-Native couldn’t be prosecuted because it was a state crime on federal land,” Sheridan explained to Newsweek. “At the same time, if you were a Native accused of assaulting a non-Native, you could be prosecuted twice, once by the federal government and once by the tribal police. It was a double standard of medieval proportions.”

By the film’s end, the heroes have (mostly) emerged victorious and killed the bad guys, but Wind River doesn’t end in triumph. Instead, Sheridan concludes his story with a rather frightening title card: “While missing person statistics are compiled for every other demographic, none exist for Native American women.”

Here we have a dramatic thriller with more on its mind than delivering a simple-minded potboiler, and that’s what makes Wind River such a unique cinematic experience. Like all of the films on Sheridan’s resume, from Sicario to Yellowstone, Hell or High Water to the less seen (but still very good) Those Who Wish Me Dead, Wind River strives to uncover difficult truths simmering beneath America’s rich soil. As such, his films are a different breed than most action thrillers and often leave the viewer with plenty to think about. While Wind River doesn’t quite hit the highs of Denis Villeneuve’s Sicario, it is no less gripping, fascinating and enlightening.

But don’t take my word for it. Check out Wind River for yourselves, then come back here and let us know what you thought. And be sure to watch all of Sheridan’s flicks if you haven’t already. The man is a cinematic treasure.

Spider-Man: No Way Home Continues to Impress at the Box Office

Spider-Man: No Way Home continued its box office assault this weekend, taking in another $11 million in its seventh week of release — this, despite many east coast theaters closing their doors for winter storm Kenan. To date, Spidey has collected a whopping $735.9 million stateside and has its eyes set on Avatar’s $760M total (not adjusted for inflation).

Per Deadline, Spidey’s reign at the top of the box office, where it has held the crown for six out of its seven weekends, puts it in rare company with titles such as Terms of Endearment (1983), Return of the Jedi (1983), Rain Man (1988), and Rocky IV (1985). For the record, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial is still the champ of that particular category with a whopping 16 weekends in the top spot back in 1982. Overseas, Spider-Man has swung past the $1 billion mark to pin its worldwide total at $1.74 billion and counting.

“I’m very spoiled because Tom Holland and I had petitioned that the neighborhood superheroes should cross paths again,” said Cumberbatch. “To have those three films culminate in that moment was extraordinary to be a part of. And to let my character make some hefty mistakes out of love — really, out of generosity towards someone he realizes he really cares for. From a stand-alone success of a movie, of a franchise, it’s phenomenal. I genuinely sat there entertained, thrilled, really moved. I laughed a lot. I cheered. It’s a fantastic feeling to be back in a cinema, being able to do that and to prove that not everything has to be streamed. And I think that’s important moving forward. It’s not just for exhibitors but for the social gain, the excitement of being in a crowd of people experiencing that live thing of watching it.”

In Spider-Man: No Way Home, Strange agrees to try and help Peter Parker in conducting a spell that will make it so people forget that Parker is Spider-Man. Things go pretty bad, however, and soon a multiverse is unleashed onto the pair that includes past villains from previous Spider-Man franchises.

With the Doctor Strange sequel set to launch later this year, we’ll also likely get to see Cumberbatch dealing with the after-effects of No Way Home, as well as what looks to be his own problems when it comes to the MCU’s multiverse.

As for No Way Home, the film currently holds a worldwide gross of over $1.6 billion and has become Sony’s highest-grossing film of all time. According to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures are already actively beginning to develop their next Spider-Man film together.

Mattel Films and Netflix are partnering on the upcoming Masters of the Universe live-action film with Kyle Allen (West Side Story, The Path, American Horror Story) set to star as Prince Adam/He-Man, replacing Noah Centineo who exited the project last year. The Nee Brothers (The Lost City, Band of Robbers) are co-directing from a screenplay written by the Nees and David Callaham (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Wonder Woman 1984). Production is expected to begin this summer.

“In Masters of the Universe, an orphan named Adam discovers he is a prince destined to be the savior of a faraway land and must quickly learn of his power and the importance of saving his true home from an evil force,” reads the official synopsis.

Masters of the Universe is an iconic property that shaped the imaginations of an entire generation of kids with the message of becoming the best version of yourself. With our partners at Netflix, we look forward to showing audiences that anything can happen in Eternia. We are continuing to unlock this global franchise in new ways, and we can’t wait to see Kyle battle it out with Skeletor in this epic live-action saga,” said Robbie Brenner, executive producer of Mattel Films.

“We’ve always been inspired by the fantastical world of Eternia,” added producers Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch. “This movie has been 14 years in the making for us and our partners and we are so excited to tell an entirely new story for Masters of the Universe with the Nee Brothers and Dave Callaham for Mattel and Netflix and share it with a global audience.”

Brenner and Kevin McKeon (VP of Mattel Films) will lead the project for Mattel Films. Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch (Being the Ricardos, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, The Equalizer), and DeVon Franklin will produce. The project was formerly in development at Sony.

The Requin Interview: Alicia Silverstone Discusses Filming Shark Thriller

Saban Films’ shark thriller The Requin is out in theaters, on demand, and digital today. Directed by Le-Van Kiet, the film stars Alicia Silverstone and James Tupper in the main roles as a couple whose romantic retreat goes horribly wrong.

“There’s terror in paradise when Jaelyn (Alicia Silverstone) and Kyle (James Tupper) arrive at a remote seaside villa in Vietnam for a romantic getaway,” says the official synopsis. “A torrential storm descends, reducing the villa to little more than a raft and sweeping the young couple out to sea. Suddenly, another danger appears: a school of great white sharks. With her injured husband watching helplessly, Jaelyn must battle the deadly predators alone in this tense thriller that rides an unrelenting wave of fear.”

ComingSoon Editor-in-Chief Tyler Treese spoke with The Requin star Alicia Silverstone about the challenges of filming in water, the film’s emotional themes, and more.

Tyler Treese: Your character in the film, Jaelyn, is dealing with a lot of trauma after losing a child. That’s something that, unfortunately, a lot of people can relate to and she sort of blames herself. What went into that portrayal?

Alicia Silverstone: Well, I mean, that’s such a deep, sad thing, right? And yeah, losing a baby is, you know, it’s the worst. What a terrible thing. And to have the baby make it all the way to birth and then to go. So she’s struggling with so much post-traumatic stress and trauma, and she has these episodes and it’s really her husband and her are barely making it. It’s destroying them.

Speaking of your husband in the film, James Tupper does a really great job. What went into building that rapport with him, and how was it filming with him?

Well, James and I worked together before on American Woman, a show I did a few years back, maybe three or four years ago. He had been recommended to me by a friend at the time and I brought him in and he just killed it, he was so great, and so we loved working together. I had an incredible time with him. So I recommended him for this too, and Le-Van Kiet, the director, fell in love with him as I knew he would, and we had such a good time together. He’s just a really fun person. I’m so happy I get to work with him, and I really love the experience.

There are some extremely tense water scenes in the film. What were the biggest challenges in filming so much in water and doing these shark scenes?

Well, it was freezing, so there’s that. I mean, truly freezing. At one point, the, set medic checked my temperature and he was like, ‘No, you have to stay, we have to get you warm. Your temperatures dropping too low.,’ because they were throwing water. I was laying in the sand with my face planted in the sand, and they were throwing buckets of water on me to try and have it look like the ocean is, you know, getting in my mouth and waking me up, and it was freezing, just absolutely freezing, so that was challenging. It’s also challenging because we’re in a pool the whole time. There’s no ocean, there are no sharks, there are people everywhere, right? So it’s just, your imagination has to really kick in, and your commitment to what you know the circumstances are because it’s so reliant on the visual effects. The whole film rides on the visual effects.

The film revolves around this universal terror that is these great sharks and being trapped at sea. Shark films have been able to stay relevant for so many decades at this point. What did you enjoy most about this sub-genre?

Well, I wanna say that I love sharks and I respect them. I don’t think that they’re scary creatures that we should be so freaked out by. That said, I don’t wanna run into one in the ocean, that’s for darn sure. I want them to be left to do their business. So this is a story about… we are taking that to an extreme that these sharks, because they smell the blood, because they’re hungry. You could even argue because we’re destroying the planet, the environment, that they are hunting us down.

But I don’t know why people like shark movies so much. I think It’s survival. It’s this idea that these two people in this movie are fighting for their marriage because of all that they’ve been through, and they come on this trip with a last-ditch effort to reclaim their love and make it work right? You see glimmers of that, the hope and the possibility, but then, unfortunately, this life-altering thing happens and they now are fighting for their actual lives. And when fighting for their actual lives, it sort of helps them fall back in love again, in a way, or at least really, truly appreciate what they loved about each other to begin with. I think it’s really beautiful, and compelling, and loving and emotional.

Speaking of horror, I’m not sure if you’ve seen it yet, but you were mentioned in the new Scream movie as playing a role in their film within a film, Stab. Were you given any heads up on that little easter egg? And what are your thoughts on that?

I actually don’t know anything about that. So let me ask, I’m gonna write that down and ask someone about it, cause I don’t know anything about that.

You famously played Batgirl and Leslie Grace is gonna play a different version of that character in a film coming up. Do you have any advice for her, just dealing with that scrutiny that actresses face when dealing with these high-profile superhero roles?

I think the times are so different now. I really do. I think she’s gonna do wonderful and be fine. I don’t think that people criticize us the way that they did 20 years ago at all. I think that the internet would come and attack whoever was doing that, right? [laughs] It’s like there’s like a support team out there that says that’s not allowed. And so yeah, I think she’s gonna be fine. I think! Don’t you?

Yeah. Some of the set photos look great. You had a really fun cameo appearance in the Beastie Boys short film Fight For Your Right Revisited. How did that come about?

How did you know about that? You’re the first person who’s ever mentioned that to me.

I’ve been on a real big Beastie Boys kick. I just watched it the other day and then I realized you were in it, but how did that come along, and what did it mean for you to do that before MCA unfortunately passed?

Well, he asked me to do it and, I can’t remember why or how, unfortunately, cause that was a while ago, but…how did that come about? He just asked me and I said, “Absolutely.? I knew that fun friends were gonna be there like Laura Dern and you know, it was just gonna be a fun group of people. So it was a joy to do, and easy to do. I have no idea why I was there, how that all happened. Yeah. It was fun.

Clueless is still being quoted 25 plus years later. How crazy is it that you kind of had an impact on the vernacular for an entire generation and that the film is still so beloved?

It’s really wonderful, honestly. I was just in Round Top, Texas, and I was meeting lots of fun people and they would put me on the phone with their kids [laughs], like FaceTiming them and their kids would have a heart attack. Like, the 18-year-old’s reactions to seeing me was really sweet. And I think what’s really neat is just that you kind of expect that the people who are your age are the ones who are gonna like it because they were there at that time.

But this is a film that’s been passed on and passed on and it’s really lovely that people really connect with it, and in terms of the vernacular, I think it’s really funny that sometimes you just hear people say things from Clueless and…they say the word clueless a lot, and they say “as if,” there’s just a lot of references, and it even comes up in my own life sometimes, and that makes me laugh. Where I’ll just think, “Oops, my bad,” or I’ll say something like, “You know how picky I am,” and I’ll think about, “You see how picky I am about my shoes and they only go on my feet.” I think that’s such a funny line. Amy Heckerling’s a brilliant genius, basically. [The novel] Emma written by Jane Austin is also a genius. So the combination is pretty great.

Kao the Kangaroo Reboot Announced Alongside Trailer

After a long hiatus, a new Kao the Kangaroo video game is coming, as developer Tate Multimedia has just announced a new entry. This new installment will release on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC sometime this summer.

MORE: Star Wars 1313 Gameplay Leak Features Boba Fett on the Hunt

The Kao the Kangaroo games were a series of platformers that came out throughout the 2000s on various platforms. The series was most popular in Poland, but did see some success internationally. The series was revived in 2020 to commemorate its 20th anniversary, and this new game is the product of that revival.

“It’s really exciting to finally be able to say to people that, yes, we will be launching Kao the Kangaroo this summer,” said Tate Multimedia Head Kaja Borowko. “Throughout development, it’s been important to us to make sure Kao’s new adventure both feels like a tribute to his previous outings for existing fans, as well as a fresh, contemporary platformer for newcomers. This is not a sequel, this is a complete reboot, and we can’t wait to see players young and old come together to take on the role of Kao once more this summer.”

MORE: Steam Deck Shipments Will Begin Next Month

The new Kao the Kangaroo game will be similar to its predecessors, and will be a 3D platformer that looks to capture the feel of early platforming games like Crash Bandicoot. In the game, players will take on the role of the titular Kao as they try to find his missing sister while also solving the mystery of what happened to his long-lost father. Kao also uses boxing gloves to punch and jab his way through enemies and, due to Kao being a kangaroo, his legs to leap from area to area.

Tom Holland Recalls First Spider-Man Rehearsal with Tobey & Andrew

During his first joint interview with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, Spider-Man: No Way Home star Tom Holland recalled how anxious he was leading up to the days before Maguire and Garfield’s scheduled arrival on set, describing it as a “daunting,” moment for him.

Speaking with Deadline, the 25-year-old actor revealed that before his first Spider-Man rehearsal with his predecessors, he asked co-stars Jacob Batalon and Zendaya to come to the rehearsals and be his support system.

“It was very daunting, because we were a long way into shooting before you guys [Garfield and Maguire] showed up, you know we were maybe three months into principal photography, and the date of the other Spider-Mans are coming was etched on my calendar,” Holland shared. “At our first rehearsal, I had asked Jacob and Zendaya to come with me to just be there as like my support system. Like, I’m gonna go meet these guys I’m really nervous about it, because we have to read the scene and I don’t know how this is gonna go because we’re all playing the same character and we all have to bring our own kind of heart and soul into this.”

RELATED: Tobey Maguire Discusses Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doesn’t Feel it Closed the Chapter

When the moment finally came and the Spider-Man trio were all in their respective versions of the suit, Holland described it as one of the most “bizarre,” and “amazing” experiences of his life.

“It was really strange and almost a little unfair how they had us put the suits on and then just jump around in front of a camera together like that was one of the most bizarre experiences of my life,” He said. “Again, Jacob and Zendaya were there for that to support me, but it was an amazing experience and from day one it was a roller coaster that I didn’t want to get off of.”

Holland was also asked about his Spider-Man future after No Way Home, revealing that he honestly doesn’t know the answer. Even though he’s not ready to say goodbye to the character, he’ll proudly accept whatever outcome the future may bring whether it’s time for him to leave or not.

“The truthful answer — and I’ve done a whole press tour where all I do is lie — the truth is, and you’re not going to like the truth, I don’t know the answer to that question,” He admitted. “This film for me was as special as an experience could ever be. Sharing the screen with these guys. Playing Spider-Man could be quite an alienating experience because, you know, we’re the only three blokes who have done it. So to share that with you two, it’s been such a wonderful experience, of which I have such amazing memories.  I don’t know. I know I love this character, and I know that I am not ready to say goodbye,” Holland said. “But if it’s time for me to say goodbye, then I will do so proudly, knowing that I’ve achieved everything I wanted to with this character, and sharing it with these boys will be forever one of the most special experiences of my career. So, if it’s time, it’s time. If it’s not, it’s not. But at the moment, I don’t know.”

The film currently holds a worldwide gross of over $1.6 billion and has become Sony’s highest-grossing film of all time. According to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures are already actively beginning to develop their next Spider-Man film together.

Johnny Knoxville on How WWE Royal Rumble Spot Came Together, Reveals Favorite Wrestlers

Speaking during a recent appearance on The Howard Stern Show, Knoxville dove into his recent appearances on WWE programming, as well as who his favorite wrestlers were.

“Besides me, man…I would say probably Abdullah the Butcher, Gorilla Monsoon was a hell of a wrestler,” Knoxville said before explaining how he got involved with WWE.

“Well, we were doing a promotion backstage at the WWE,” Knoxville said. “And their head writer took me and Jeff Tremaine out in the hall, and he’s like, ‘You want to make a run for the Rumble?’ I was like ‘Yeah. What do you mean?’ And he was like ‘The Royal Rumble!’ and I was like, ‘Oh, yeah, for sure!’ And so then I’ve just been training 24/7, Howard, been flipping huge truck tires over the fence, the neighbors are so angry. Truck tires weigh about the same as that pretty boy Austin Theory.”

Knoxville also touched on the fact that his goal for the Royal Rumble isn’t necessarily to win, but instead to make sure the other WWE superstars have a much harder time.

“I’m going to walk in the ring and make their life a living hell, Howard,” said Knoxville, before revealing how much fun he’s having. “It’s the most fun thing, I wake up every morning and I’m talking s— all day long. I spend a lot of my time on the WWE Instagram arguing with people, it’s so fun. It’s brought out this childhood thing in me…Johnny is not acting, Johnny is fully on board, Johnny has left the building.”

WWE’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view is set to kick off at 8 p.m. EST on Saturday, January 29, 2022, and will be available to watch live on the Peacock streaming service.
