Kendrick Lamar has released a new short film for his song “We Cry Together,” showcasing a live rendition of the argument from the most theatrical song from his album Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers.

The short film is directed by Jake Schreier, Dave Free, and Lamar. The short film also features Taylour Paige, who provided vocals for the album release of the song as well. In the film, Lamar and Paige play a couple who are in the middle of a vicious argument, with both shouting swears at one another while also blaming each other for a variety of issues going on in the world. According to the film’s description, the video was filmed live in March 2020.

“We Cry Together” became one of the more notable songs on Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers. Many critics praised the track, although it has simultaneously become a meme on social media by fans making jokes based on the track.

This is the second track from the Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers album to receive a music video, the first of which was “N95,” which saw its video release in May when the album had first come out. At its debut, the album quickly hit the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart earlier this year, marking four consecutive albums debuting at the No. 1 spot for the acclaimed rapper.
