With the recent release of Mercy for None on Netflix, viewers of the acclaimed K-Drama have rushed online to find out whether it has been renewed for Season 2 or canceled. Featuring So Ji-sub in the lead, the series revolves around the misadventures of a retired gangster, Nam Gi-jun, who returns to the criminal underbelly of Seoul after his brother, Nam Gi-seok, dies under mysterious circumstances.

Is Mercy for None Season 2 renewed or canceled by Netflix?
Netflix has not greenlit Mercy for None for a sophomore installment as of writing.
Based on the webtoon Plaza Wars: Mercy for None by O Se-hyung and Kim Gyun-tae, the Netflix show was conceptualized as a limited series. Hence, Mercy for None Season 2 has neither been canceled nor renewed by the streaming giants. Instead, the enthralling crime thriller K-Drama has simply run its brief course of seven episodes.
Mercy for None follows So Ji-sub’s Nam Gi-jun. Driven by vengeance, he re-enters Seoul’s underworld to track down the killer of his brother. Gi-jun learns that the criminal scene is now run by two major mob organizations. One faction is led by Lee Ju-woon, who once served as a mentor to Nam Gi-seok. Meanwhile, the other falls under the leadership of Koo Bong-san. Gi-jun initially suspects Koo Jun-mo to be the killer. The latter is the hot-headed son of Bong-san, who faced humiliation at the hands of his brother.
The series ends with So Ji-sub’s character avenging his brother’s death. He then sits alone beside a fire, all the while imagining his sibling. As such, Mercy for None finishes by tying all plot ends. It also provides a fitting conclusion to Gi-jun’s arc, leaving little room for Season 2. Considering that the show was intended to be a miniseries, fans should not keep high hopes for a potential Season 2, despite the debut season’s evident popularity.
