The upcoming Malcolm in the Middle Disney+ revival has recast Dewey.
Erik Per Sullivan originally played Malcolm’s younger brother, Dewey, in Malcolm in the Middle, the popular sitcom created by Linwood Boomer that premiered in 2000 on Fox and ran for seven seasons.
Disney+ is now working on a four-episode revival of Malcolm in the Middle. Returning for the show are Frankie Muniz as Malcolm, Bryan Cranston as Hal, Jane Kaczmarek as Lois, Christopher Masterson as Francis, and Justin Berfield as Reese.
Who is playing Dewey in the Malcolm in the Middle revival?
Per Deadline, Dewey will be played by Caleb Ellsworth-Clark in the new limited series.
“The move was expected,” Deadline’s article notes. “Erik Per Sullivan, who played the role on the original series, was not expected to return as he quit acting in 2010 and has not participated in any of the Malcolm In the Middle reunions.”
Additionally, Anthony Timpano has been cast as Jamie, who is only a baby and toddler in the original series, while Vaughan Murrae will play Kelly, the youngest member of the Wilkerson family. Kelly doesn’t ever appear in Malcolm in the Middle; rather, the series finale revealed that Lois is pregnant with her sixth child.
“Kelly is described as self-sufficient,” Deadline’s article reads. “She gets good grades and is already wiser than most of the family.
Lastly, Keeley Karsten has been cast as Malcolm’s daughter, Leah, while it was previously announced that Kiana Madeira will play Malcolm’s girlfriend.
The Malcolm in the Middle revival will see the whole Wilkerson family gather together for Hal and Lois’ 40th wedding anniversary party. Boomer returns to write and executive produce the show, while Cranston, Tracy Katsky, Gail Berman, Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan, Natalie Lehmann, and Ken Kwapis also serve as executive producers. Kwapis directs all four episodes.
A Disney+ premiere date for the Malcolm in the Middle revival has not yet been announced.
