In addition to Oscar, The Paper will feature an appearance from at least one other character from The Office.
The Paper is the upcoming mockumentary sitcom series that serves as a spin-off to The Office. Created by Greg Daniels and Michael Koman, all ten episodes of The Paper will be released on Peacock in a little over a week.
What do we know about The Paper’s Office cameo?
Oscar Nuñez reprises his role as Oscar Martinez, the former accountant for Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch, in The Paper. However, he seemingly won’t be the only star of the hit NBC show that’s returning for the new spin-off.
A recent article from Variety mentions that a “peripheral character” from The Office appears “early on” in The Paper Season 1, while “another fan favorite is mentioned.” The article doesn’t mention who, exactly, appears in the show, meaning Office fans will have to wait until September 4, 2025, to find out who appears.
Nuñez did mention, however, that it “would be crazy to see Creed come back” in The Paper, or his fellow accountant, Angela Martin. “I don’t know what she’s doing,” the actor commented.
Additionally, Paul Lieberstein, who played Toby in The Office and was a writer-producer on the series, worked on the new show, as did Office directors Jeffrey Blitz, Dave Rogers, Matt Sohn, Jennifer Celotta, and Ken Kwapis
The synopsis for The Paper reads, “The documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch in the Emmy Award-winning series The Office find a new subject when they discover a historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it.”
The cast of the show further includes Domhnall Gleeson as Ned Sampson, Sabrina Impacciatore as Esmeralda Grand, Chelsea Frei as Mare Pritti, Melvin Gregg as Detrick Moore, Gbemisola Ikumelo as Adelola Olofin, Alex Edelman as Adam Cooper, Ramona Young as Nicole Lee, and Tim Key as Ken Davies.
