Bryan Konietzko has shared a major update about the upcoming Avatar animated film centered on Aang. The Avatar: The Last Airbender co creator revealed that work on the project has reached a significant milestone as fans continue to await more details about its release.

Avatar: The Last Airbender co creator Bryan Konietzko has confirmed that the upcoming animated feature The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender has completed production.
In a social media update responding to fan questions, Konietzko stated, “For the folks asking about the movie: all I can say at this point is it’s done, it’s awesome, and we can’t wait to share it with everyone.” The statement marks the first direct confirmation from a series creator that work on the film has fully wrapped.
Avatar Studios is producing the film as part of a new slate of animated projects expanding the Avatar franchise. Series creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael DiMartino returned to the universe to develop new stories after the original Nickelodeon series. The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender follows Aang and his companions as adults after the events of the animated show.
Members of the film’s creative team, including director Lauren Montgomery, also confirmed that production has wrapped. Reports indicate that people involved in the project have already watched the completed film. The update shows the project has moved beyond its main production stages ahead of the planned release window.
Paramount initially scheduled The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender for a theatrical release. The studio later changed its distribution plans earlier this year. Paramount now plans to release the film on Paramount+ in the fall. However, the company has not announced an exact premiere date.
The distribution change removed the project from Paramount Pictures’ theatrical calendar. Avatar Studios is producing the film with Paramount and Nickelodeon Movies. The voice cast includes Eric Nam as Aang and Steven Yeun as Zuko. Other cast members include Dave Bautista, Taika Waititi, Ke Huy Quan, and several others in undisclosed roles.
