Toy Story 5 is inching toward a jaw-dropping global milestone and nothing can stop it. A breakdown of the winners and losers from a wild weekend at the movies.

Toy Story 5 box office almost goes past $600 million

Toy Story 5 collected $585 million worldwide by its second weekend, according to Deadline. The Disney/Pixar sequel earned $159.1 million globally in its sophomore frame. Domestically, the film posted $70 million and sits at $297.2 million stateside.

The Andrew Stanton-directed sequel held with a 56% second-weekend drop. Notably, that decline mirrors Incredibles 2, which holds the record for the best animated opening ever. Additionally, Toy Story 5 ranked first in nearly every international market during its second frame.

Updated overseas totals include $48 million in Mexico and $37.8 million in the UK. China contributed $29.8 million, while France and Brazil each added $15.7 million and $12.6 million respectively. Meanwhile, Australia also reached $12.6 million through the film’s second weekend.

On the other hand, Warner Bros.’ Supergirl opened to just $68 million worldwide against a $170-$186 million net production budget (via Deadline). The DC title earned only $38 million domestically and $30 million from 77 international markets. As a result, its global launch fell below even Joker: Folie a Deux’s $114.8 million worldwide opening.

Furthermore, Supergirl joins a growing list of underperforming tentpoles this year. Amazon MGM’s Masters of the Universe managed only $29.4 million in its domestic opening. Similarly, Disney’s Mandalorian and Grogu sits at $175.2 million domestic after six weekends in theaters. Warner Bros.’ Mortal Kombat 2 also struggled earlier this year at the box office.

Despite these individual misfires, the overall 2026 box office remains strong. The year-to-date domestic total stands at $4.7 billion, up 15% over 2025.

In fact, summer grosses have officially crossed $2.1 billion, running 17% ahead of last summer. Super Mario Galaxy currently leads all 2026 releases with $1 billion worldwide. The Michael Jackson biopic Michael follows closely at $977.4 million globally. Finally, Universal’s Minions and Monsters began its offshore rollout with $10.3 million from ten early territories.
