Keanu Reeves is gearing up to star in a major thriller adaptation, potentially launching a new franchise. The Arena has also released a teaser for the movie.
Well-known film producer Erik Feig’s independent studio The Arena has announced its new collaboration with Keanu Reeves. The production company has acquired and will produce an adaptation of Oliver Lowe’s upcoming novel Kill Current: A Jon Hendricks Thriller, starring the John Wick actor.

Keanu Reeves leads the movie adaptation of Oliver Lowe’s Kill Current novel
Kill Current will be the first novel in Oliver Lowe’s thriller series. According to the story’s logline, it follows Jon Hendricks, “a burned-out CIA officer who is pulled back in to avenge the protégé he trained and lost.” The novel is scheduled to be published by Zando in May 2027.
Reeves will also serve as a producer on The Arena’s adaptation along with Alexandra Grant. Molly Stern and her publisher Zando will serve as executive producers. Kill Current will also mark the first project from Reeves and Grant’s new production banner, Two Dragonflies.
Speaking with Deadline about the upcoming project, Reeves said, “I’m excited and grateful for the opportunity to develop the character Jon Hendricks with these wonderful collaborators and that this is the project that launches Two Dragonflies, which I share with my partner, Alexandra Grant.”
According to Zando CEO Molly Stern, “Kill Current is rooted in the issues shaping today’s world—semi-conductors, global supply chains, technological and information warfare. It delivers the fast-paced, globe-trotting read and complex, intriguing characters that thriller fans of any era crave.”
Additionally, Feig stated, “Keanu Reeves is a singular talent and synonymous with the kind of intelligent action franchises we are aiming to make. We are thrilled to work with him and Alexandra Grant and equally thrilled that Matt Reilly and Melissa Goodall were able to swoop in and get this!”
