Amazon MGM Studios has officially enlisted three new cast members to join Prime Video’s upcoming live-action God of War series. It is based on PlayStation‘s popular action fantasy video game franchise, which first launched in 2005.

“It follows father and son Kratos and Atreus as they embark on a journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye. Through their adventures, Kratos tries to teach his son to be a better god, while Atreus tries to teach his father how to be a better human,” reads the official logline.

Who is all joining the God of War TV show cast?

Alastair Duncan (Taggart), Jeff Gulka (The X-Files), and Danny Woodburn (The Witcher) have been tapped to star in the God of War series, which is now in pre-production in Vancouver. Duncan will actually be reprising his role as Mimir, a character he originally voiced in the God of War and God of War Ragnarök video games. As for Gulka and Woodburn, they are set to play the respective roles of Sindri and Brok.

Listed below are the three new characters’ official descriptions:

  • Mimir (Duncan) is a cheery fellow from Celtic lands with an expansive intellect, a quick wit, and a good head on his shoulders. Never at a loss for words, Mimir is the self-described “Smartest Man in the World”. He served as an advisor to Odin the All-Father, who ultimately banished Mimir to confinement in the trunk of a tree, forever cut off from the people he loves and anything that could nourish his mind. In the wake of his banishment, Mimir seeks atonement for the terrible deeds he committed in the All-Father’s name.
  • Sindri (Gulka) is a renowned dwarven blacksmith whose incredible weaponry is sought after across the realms. Neurotic, helpful, and extremely germaphobic, Sindri is the complete opposite of his cranky, foul-mouthed brother and business partner, Brok.
  • Brok (Woodburn) is a legendary dwarven blacksmith who was alienated from his community when he helped build a super-weapon. He is brash, irreverent, and gruff – the complete opposite of his uptight brother and fellow blacksmith, Sindri, with whom he has a contentious relationship. Gamers will know Brok as the beloved weapons dealer with an unrivaled artistry for creative, foul-mouthed curses.

The Norse mythology-themed series will be written and executive-produced by showrunner Ronald D. Moore. The new cast members will be joining previously announced stars Ryan Hurst (Sons of Anarchy) as Kratos, Max Parker (Boots) as Heimdall, Mandy Patinkin (The Princess Bride) as Odin, and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (Severance) as Thor. Emmy winner Frederick E.O. Toye has signed on to direct the first two episodes.

Executive producers are Maril Davis, Cory Barlog, Naren Shankar, Matthew Graham, Asad Qizilbash, Jeff Ketcham, Hermen Hulst, Roy Lee, and Brad Van Arragon. Joe Menosky, Marc Bernardin, Tania Lotia, and Ben McGinnis. It is a production by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios in association with PlayStation Productions and Tall Ship Productions. Ahead of its debut, it has also been confirmed that the adaptation is already set to return for a second season.
