CS Video: Director Tim Story Talks This Weekend’s Tom & Jerry!

CS Video: Director Tim Story Talks This Weekend's Tom & Jerry!

CS Video: Director Tim Story Talks This Weekend’s Tom & Jerry!

Warner Bros. provided ComingSoon.net with the chance to speak with director Tim Story (Shaft, Ride Along, Fantastic Four) about this weekend’s Tom & Jerry, the animated/live-action hybrid adventure starring Chloë Grace Moretz. Fans can see the movie now in theaters and on HBO Max, and check out the interview in the player below!

In the interview we chat with Story about how involved he was in crafting each sequence in terms of shooting plates, etc. We also chat about which specific era of Tom & Jerry cartoons he was influenced by, considering the movie presents the cat and mouse in all their 2D glory!

RELATED: Tom & Jerry Trailer: All Friends Fight, These Friends Battle

One of the most beloved rivalries in history is reignited when Jerry moves into New York City’s finest hotel on the eve of “the wedding of the century,” forcing the event’s desperate planner to hire Tom to get rid of him. The ensuing cat and mouse battle threatens to destroy her career, the wedding, and possibly the hotel itself. But soon, an even bigger problem arises: a diabolically ambitious staffer conspiring against all three of them. An eye-popping blend of classic animation and live-action, Tom and Jerry’s new big-screen adventure stakes new ground for the iconic characters and forces them to do the unthinkable… work together to save the day.

The film will follow Chloë Grace Moretz (Suspiria)’s Kayla, a new employee at the extravagant Park hotel who hires broke alley cat Tom to get rid of mouse Jerry in an attempt to secure her job. Michael Peña (Ant-Man & the Wasp) has signed on to star as Terrance, the deputy general manager of the hotel who acts as a bully to Kayla and begins clashing with his new employee as she impresses upper management with her battle against the animal duo.

In addition to Moretz and Peña, the cast for the film includes Rob Delaney (Deadpool 2), Colin Jost (Saturday Night Live), and Ken Jeong (Crazy Rich Asians). Tim Story is directing for Warner Bros. from a script by Kevin Costello.

Tom & Jerry is slated to hit theaters on February 26, and will be available in the U.S. on HBO Max for 31 days from the theatrical release.

The 9 Most Memorable U.S. Marshals in Television and Film History

Comingsoon.net is on the run and imagining being hunted down by some of the best federal marshals in the biz. Check out our picks in the gallery below!

There’s something undeniably cinematic about a U.S. Marshal; the Marshals Service being the primary agency for dealing with the most romanticized of criminals: the fugitive. This is not to say that a fugitive in cinema or on television is always an admirable character, and neither are the marshals; however, whether they have a questionable moral compass or are a chain-smoking drunk, they’re still a heck of a lot of fun to watch.

The one aspect of the stereotypical U.S. Marshal that seems to permeate this medium revolves around a sort of “southern charm.” They’re all cowboys.  In honor of all successful manhunts, here are some gunslinging U.S. marshals we’ll never forget.

Superman Reboot in Development at WB With Ta-Nehisi Coates Writing & J.J. Abrams Producing

Deadline is reporting that a Superman reboot is in the works at Warner Bros. and DC with author Ta-Nehisi Coates writing the script and Emmy winner J.J. Abrams (Lost, Westworld, Star Wars franchise) producing the project via his Bad Robot production company.

No details have been released, including plot or any talent attachments. Hannah Minghella will serve as producer on the currently untitled feature.

Coates is also at work on Ryan Coogler’s drama Wrong Answer, starring Michael B. Jordan and based on Rachel Aviv‘s 2014 story in The New Yorker about 11 Atlanta public school educators who were convicted of racketeering in an attempt to falsely improve standardized test scores.

As the national correspondent for The Atlantic, Coates covered cultural, social, and political issues, specifically that of African Americans and white supremacy. He has written for The Village Voice, TIME, and has contributed to the New York Times Magazine, Washington Post, and more. His non-fiction books include The Beautiful Struggle, Between the World and Me, and We Were Eight Years in Power: An American Tragedy. Between the World and Me won the 2015 National Book Award for Nonfiction. Coates has also written a Black Panther and a Captain America series for Marvel Comics. Coates received a special thanks credit on Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and Black Panther.

Bad Robot signed an exclusive deal with Warner Bros. in 2019 and is also developing the Justice League Dark Universe for film and television. The comic book Justice League Dark team made their debut during DC’s “New 52” publishing initiative in 2011. A paranormal-leaning super-team, the group featured the likes of John Constantine, Swamp Thing, Zatanna, Frankenstein, Deadman, Madame Xanadu, and The Phantom Stranger among its ranks. Prior to Liman’s involvement and departure, Guillermo del Toro had been attached to direct the Justice League Dark movie, which was set to be titled Dark Universe. Since then though, Universal Pictures used that moniker for their attempt at rebooting their classic monsters, so the film (should it ever be made) will likely carry the Justice League Dark title. It was recently announced that HBO Max is developing a new Constantine series and that the potential show would be connected to Bad Robot’s Justice League Dark universe.
