Ice Cube‘s popular comedy movie is finally getting a sequel after 20 years. He is reuniting with his on-screen co-star for the franchise’s third installment.

It’s been confirmed that Ice Cube’s Are We There Yet? franchise is getting another movie after two decades. Cube and actress Nia Long will come together for a sequel to their last film in the series, 2007’s Are We Done Yet?, reports Deadline.
The next movie in the comedy road franchise is titled Are They Gone Yet? It will see Cube and Long reprising their roles as Nick Persons and Suzanne Kingston-Persons, respectively. The next installment will see Nick facing the biggest challenge of his life: his grandkids. Currently in the early development stage, Are They Gone Yet? is being written by Chris Hazzard and Mike Fontana.
“We built something special with this franchise. Audiences grew up with Nick Persons, and now Nick’s got grandkids. Time flies,” said Cube about the next installment. “Partnering with Skydance to bring this story to a new generation is exactly the kind of move CubeVision was built for, and I am excited for the new partnership.”

Speaking more about the Are We There Yet? franchise, it kicked off in the year 2005 with the first part. However, it failed to win over critics and audiences back then. The film earned a poor Tomatometer score of just 12% and a Popcornmeter score of 45% on Rotten Tomatoes. The same was the case with the second movie, Are We Done Yet?, which fared even worse. It currently holds an abysmal Tomatometer score of 7% and a Popcornmeter score of 33% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Despite the poor critical response, both movies managed to earn more than $156 million at the worldwide box office. Interestingly, the Are We Done Yet? franchise was previously adapted into a sitcom as well. It ran for three seasons between 2010 and 2013, and starred Terry Crews and Essence Atkins in lead roles.
As for the third film, Are They Gone Yet?, it has Ice Cube, Todd Garner, and Jeff Kwatinetz as the producers. Ben Hurwitz and Lauren Gennawey are serving as the executive producers.

Filming for Season 4 is expected to wrap later this month. Even though the series is ending, fans still have plenty ahead. Season 4 will continue several unfinished storylines. Alice’s friends from the 1970s are expected back. The final season will also address major questions.

Alan Ritchson, known for Reacher, Reacher, War Machine, and Playdate, will be one of the voice actors for the animated movie Groove Tails, by writer-director Bob Logan, reports Variety. The newly announced ensemble cast also features Ansel Elgort (Baby Driver, The Fault in Our Stars, West Side Story), Halle Bailey (The Little Mermaid, The Color Purple), and Ludacris (Fast & Furious series, Crash, Hustle & Flow).
Other notable members are J.B. Smoove (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Mapleworth Murders), and CeeLo Green (Hotel Transylvania). Additionally, global recording artist and actress Agnez Mo (Reacher) will also appear in a key role.
Based on a screenplay by Johnny Mack, Groove Tails follows a mouse pursuing stardom as a dancer. After his father objects to his ambitions, he goes on a journey alongside several misfits. According to the official description, they “discover their own unique rhythms while fighting to save the only place they’ve ever truly called home.”

Original Force, which produces CG animation and game content, is serving as the animation studio on behalf of Tencent Video. A.C. Bradley, who is known for Ms Marvel, What If?, and Tales of Arcadia: Trollhunters, will be the showrunner. Emmy Award-winning Rodrigo Blaas will direct in collaboration with El Guiri Studios.

An overlooked crime comedy, Going in Style, is scheduled to leave Netflix next month. According to What’s on Netflix, the film will be removed from the platform on July 1, 2026.
Directed by Zach Braff from a screenplay by Theodore Melfi, Going in Style was released in 2017 as a remake of the 1979 comedy of the same name. The story centers on three lifelong friends who discover that retirement is far less secure than they expected. After spending decades in the workforce, Joe Harding, Willie Davis, and Albert Garner find themselves facing serious financial difficulties when their pension funds are jeopardized.
As their personal situations worsen, each man is forced to confront a different challenge, from increasing bills to pressing medical concerns. Frustrated by the circumstances, the trio devises a desperate plan to rob the bank connected to the loss of their pension funds. However, none of them has any experience committing crimes.

Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic is the source material for the Supergirl movie. While the live-action adaptation will follow the comic’s plot, not every element will end up on the big screen.
Speaking with Comicbook, Supergirl’s writer Ana Nogueira revealed that an iconic comic moment won’t be featured in the film. She mentioned that while there were many things she wanted to include, unfortunately, they had to be cut down. For example, the psychedelic Dragon sequence from the Woman of Tomorrow comic, involving Kara, where she ingests some Red Kryptonite to defeat a metal-eating Karpane Dragon.
When asked to mention the toughest part to remove from the movie, Nogueira said, “probably the panel of the Psychedelic Dragon [which] I think is really beloved and really gorgeous. So that was challenging… I think that particular panel with her, with the Red Kryptonite and the Psychedelic Dragon is just like gorge.”

Interestingly, the comic book also featured dinosaurs, but the movie won’t have them. “Somebody earlier was like, I was wondering if there’s gonna be dinosaurs. I was like, I was never gonna be able to be able to put in dinosaurs.”

Earlier this year, he stated that while the film is based on Woman of Tomorrow’s story, it won’t follow it religiously. “We’re taking elements of it. That’s a great comic book. I love it. Disclosure Day has received a stupendous 89% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes, thereby earning a spot in Steven Spielberg’s top-rated movies of his career. At the time of this article’s publication, it has been reviewed by over 100 critics.
Interestingly, this early Rotten Tomatoes score almost perfectly mirrors the projected figure that was revealed just days ago.
The movie is being praised for its stellar performances, especially by Emily Blunt. Even before the reviews came out, early social media reactions indicated that the acclaimed actress may have just delivered her best career performance. Some are even considering her name in contention for the Best Actress category at the 2027 Oscars.

Paul Rudd has revealed his ‘surreal’ feelings on returning as Ant-Man with Avengers: Doomsday. The acclaimed actor first played the fan-favorite role of Scott Lang in 2015’s movie Ant-Man, followed by two more installments in the trilogy.

Paul Rudd recently spoke with Variety and discussed his experience of working on Avengers: Doomsday, the upcoming crossover movie in the iconic MCU franchise. When asked about returning as Ant-Man three years after Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the actor spoke candidly about the experience.
“It’s a surreal thing and an amazing thing to be a part of that. I feel like I’ve made friends with so many of the people over the years, and you mentioned how long it’s been and I think, wow,” said Rudd.
He continued, “I’ve been with Marvel for a long time — more than I even realize — but I love whenever I see all the actors that I’ve worked with on these things several times, and there’s something unique to Marvel that is: It makes you feel like a kid. When I look around and see all those actors in their superhero suits, there’s something about that that’s just cool. When you see Chris Hemsworth walking around dressed like Thor — or any of them, really — it’s like, wow, this is crazy. You’re aware of how many kids would freak out if they were able to see this.”

Speaking more of Rudd’s involvement in Avengers: Doomsday, his character is set for a major transition. So far, Scott Lang has been seen as a funny guy in most of the situations. But that will change moving forward, according to Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige.
In a recent media interaction, Feige revealed that Scott will be “more of an elder statesman now, dealing with other newer characters.” Additionally, Scott’s daughter Cassie Lang (played by Kathryn Newton in Quantumania) will also return in Doomsday.

Lionsgate’s Michael Jackson biopic Michael now stands at $897.9M worldwide after its seventh weekend, according to Deadline. The Antoine Fuqua film earned a $23.1M global seventh weekend. It now trails Bohemian Rhapsody’s $910.8M record as the highest-grossing music biopic by roughly $13M.
The film has already become the biggest title in Lionsgate’s history. It surpassed both The Hunger Games: Catching Fire ($865M worldwide) and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 ($868.5M worldwide) this weekend. The biopic opened to $97.2M domestically on April 24, setting the all-time record for a music biopic opening.
Michael’s foreign performance continues to drive the total upward. The film has earned $533.8M in Universal territories and $543.685M overall internationally when including Volga markets. It has already surpassed Bohemian Rhapsody’s foreign cume in like-for-like markets.
Jaafar Jackson stars as his real-life uncle in the film. Colman Domingo plays Joseph Jackson, while Nia Long portrays Katherine Jackson. The production budget reportedly sat near $200M, with costs split between Lionsgate, Universal, and the Jackson estate.

There was a time when most blockbuster movies and popular television series found their way onto Netflix. Yet as the streaming market grew, the number of superhero movies on the service decreased. Even with the streaming mergers happening, we’re not expecting the catalog to grow quickly. The Batman movies belong to Warner Bros. Discovery, so they’ll likely be available on HBO Max soon (though you can technically watch them on Netflix if you’re in the UK). Even with fewer options, Netflix still hosts some of the best superhero movies ever made.

Today, Netflix is more frequently associated with superhero streaming series than movies. They produced a number of mature series based on the Marvel Comics universe, like Daredevil. They also stream most of the Arrowverse shows based on DC Comics, thanks to a long-running licensing deal with The CW. Despite that, and most of these properties slowly making their way to Disney+ and HBO Max, there are still some fine superhero movies to be found on Netflix.
Spiderman (2002)
The superhero movie that helped kick off the modern resurgence of the genre, Spider-Man saw director Sam Raimi take the reins and bring a different energy to a comic book icon. After Blade (1998) and X-Men (2000), studios proved we could take a superhero seriously. That was, of course, a reaction to the Batman films of the late ’80s and early ’90s. Raimi opted to go a different route and bring audiences something that was both superheroic and commercially viable. This was also the first time we got to see a superhero story as a coming-of-age story on the big screen.
Despite bigger-name directors gunning for the role, Raimi won over Sony’s producers for his vision of weaving Peter’s personal life through the narrative. Raimi had been a fan of Stan Lee’s comic series and pitched a version of the film that felt true to the comic book and to the character’s spark. While there is always debate over who is the best Spider-Man, we have to hand it to Tobey Maguire for being the first. This movie is a great watch and a pure nostalgia punch.
The plot is probably already well known enough not to spend too much time on it: a shy, intellectual high schooler with a crush on his neighbor gets bitten by a radioactive spider at a science exhibition. The bite gives him powers, and he has to learn how to use them responsibly. The timing is good, too, because more science finagling gives us a villain in the Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe).
Hellboy (2004)
In 1944, a group of Nazi sorcerers led by the infamous Rasputin tried to summon several demons into their service. Thanks to the efforts of an Allied strike force and scholar Trevor “Broom” Bruttenholm, they failed. However, an infant demon was discovered in the aftermath. Broom adopted this Hellboy as his own son and trained him to become a force for good.
Six decades later, Broom and Hellboy are employed by the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense. With their aid, the BPRD have become humanity’s first line of defense against various monsters and magicians. Unfortunately, Rasputin’s allies have resurrected him and are determined to finish what they started.
There have been four films to date based on Dark Horse Comics‘ superhero Hellboy, plus two cinematic reboots. Despite this, many feel that the first effort remains the best. This is largely due to the efforts of Oscar-winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, who scripted and directed the film. It is also thanks to Ron Perlman‘s masterful performance as the noble demon. It is also notable as the only Hellboy film adaptation to date to merit a sequel.
The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
Peter Parker is a brilliant but socially awkward teenager with dreams of becoming a scientist. This leads him to seek out a former colleague of his father, Dr. Curt Connors, who is studying cross-species genetics. A lab accident leaves Peter bitten by a genetically altered spider and transformed into something new… The Amazing Spider-Man.
When Connors is similarly transformed into a monstrous lizard man, Spider-Man must step up to save the city. This is made more difficult by the efforts of NYPD Captain George Stacy, who thinks Spider-Man is more of a menace than a superhero. This, in turn, endangers Peter’s romance with classmate Gwen Stacy, who just happens to be Captain Stacy’s daughter.
Marc Webb faced a serious challenge following Sam Raimi in developing a new Spider-Man film franchise. It is debatable how well he succeeded. However, The Amazing Spider-Man does have a devout fandom for several reasons.
Many fans prefer Andrew Garfield‘s more wisecracking take on Peter Parker than the more brooding variant played by Tobey Maguire. Another selling point for the movie is Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy and her chemistry with Andrew Garfield. Such is her popularity that many hope she may still find her way into the MCU as Spider-Gwen.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)
Miles Morales was a smart student, struggling to fit in and live up to the standards of his NYPD officer father. Chance leads to his being bitten by a radioactive spider and gaining powers similar to those of the city’s greatest hero, Spider-Man. It also leads to Miles being entrusted with the only way to stop New York’s worst crime-boss from traveling between dimensions and wrecking reality after Spider-Man dies.
In over his head and untrained in his new powers, Miles doesn’t think it is in him to be a hero. Fate intervenes again, giving him an unlikely teacher in the form of another Peter Parker from another world. Unfortunately, this Spider-Man is not the superhero he once was. However, with more and more Spiders showing up, Peter will have to remember what comes with great power. And Miles will learn that anyone can wear the mask.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was a revelation upon its release. Beyond being a blockbuster success, it was a critical smash. Even those critics who normally turn up their noses at superhero movies praised the film for its innovative concept and revolutionary animation. It ultimately earned 52 industry awards, including the Oscar, Golden Globe, and BAFTA for Best Animated Feature Film.

Mutant Mayhem was notable for being one of the few times the Ninja Turtles actually seemed to act like real teenagers. It was also marked by a unique visual aesthetic and by how well it merged ideas from a wide range of earlier adaptations. The end result was a reboot that won over a new generation of fans while satisfying the old guard.
KPop Demon Hunters (2025)
Long ago, demons preyed on humanity. Hither came three young women, warrior poets who mixed song and sorcery to fight the demons. They created the Honmoon, a mystic barrier that limited the power of demons on Earth. Through the centuries that followed, three women in a generation would be chosen as the new guardians of the Honmoon. Today, those guardians are Huntrix – a K-pop idol group consisting of rebellious Mira, innocent Zoey, and confident Rumi.
Huntrix are challenged in popularity by a demon-backed idol group called the Saja Boys. This leads to a battle of the bands for the souls of the world. However, Rumi has a secret; a half-demon heritage that threatens to break up the band and her friendships with Zoey and Mira.
Some may question the inclusion of KPop Demon Hunters on a list of superhero movies. Certainly, it is more heavily influenced by Korean culture and mythology than by traditional comic-book heroics. Yet at its core, the movie is a magical girl story, with summoned weapons, colorful costumes, and secret identities.
