Kengan Ashura Season 2 is set to premiere on Netflix next year, according to a recent announcement from the streamer.

The announcement came alongside a new visual poster for the anime, showing off series protagonist Ohma Tokita. While Netflix didn’t announce any concrete information, the news of a general release date window is sure to be exciting to fans nonetheless.

Kengan Ashura Season 2

The first season of the anime series premiered in July 2019 on Netflix and was warmly received at the time of its release. However, likely due to the production issues that arose during the COVID-19 pandemic, the second season has taken a bit more time to finish.

Originally released in April 2012, Kengan Ashura became an extremely popular manga during its run producing 27 volumes total before coming to an end in August 2018. A new series, Kengan Omega, has also been running since January 2019, with that manga producing 10 volumes of content as of now.

“Kazuo Yamashita is an ordinary fifty-six-year-old man who one day is summoned by the chairman of his company and hired as a manager of a gladiator,” reads the official synopsis of the manga. “He learns that these hired gladiators engage in battles called “Kengan Matches” to protect the corporate rights of the businesses they represent.”

Sometimes, there are greater things that help you overcome the most challenging moments.

Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul. is starting its theatrical run on September 2, and ComingSoon spoke with leading actors Sterling K. Brown and Regina Hall about what fans should expect from their upcoming film. Honk for Jesus offers a fresh look at a Southern Baptist megachurch through the relationship problems of pastor Lee-Curtis Childs and his first lady, Trinitie Childs.

“The film is a satirical comedy starring Regina Hall as Trinitie Childs – the proud first lady of a Southern Baptist megachurch, who together with her husband Pastor Lee-Curtis Childs (Sterling K. Brown), once served a congregation in the tens of thousands,” reads the synopsis. “But after a scandal forces their church to temporarily close, Trinitie and Lee-Curtis must reopen their church and rebuild their congregation to make the biggest comeback that commodified religion has ever seen.”

Tudor Leonte: Regina, I really appreciated the all-around character you portrayed in Honk for Jesus. What was the most difficult task you encountered in playing a Church’s First Lady?

Regina Hall: Probably, just trying to find the right balance of strength and that role of being submissive for lack of balance.

Sterling K. Brown: Reservedness.

Hall: Yeah. That, yeah. Reservedness, thank you.

Brown: You’re welcome.

Hall: [Laughs] Probably, finding the right balance of that I believe.

Sterling, you were perfect in the role of the narcissistic pastor.

Brown: Was he a narcissist?

Hall: Yes!

Brown: Get outta here! [Laughs]

I don’t mean to offend you. I was talking about your character.

Brown: No, none taken. You can’t offend me with facial hair like that, Tudor. What are you talking about player? Come on.

What are your main sources of inspiration for your character?

Brown: Jesus. [Laughs]. No, you let him be the reason for the season. Amen. Look, I watched a lot of televangelists on TV and whatnot. I’ve gone to many churches throughout my childhood. There’s an amalgam of different things. Probably even pop culture. I think about Arsenio Hall in Coming to America, like the way different things sort of sit into your consciousness. You know what I’m talking about. There’s a whole slew of life experiences that sort of informs the character.

You are still showing great chemistry, even in this interview. I was just curious to know how did you build your husband-wife chemistry on set and how it was for you to shoot those scenes.

Brown: Reg is an easy person to know.

Hall: I liked him right away.

Brown: I think we both have a similar sort of openness. I think that there was something that each of us recognized in the other that was like, ‘I can trust this person,’ to be open with them.

Hall: I respect him so much as an artist so that you’re gonna have fun to play. When the person themselves, they’re easy to talk to and you’re working together and rehearsing together and having fun together, then it’s when you get on set and it’s time to actually go into character. It’s almost natural. The hardest scene to film probably would’ve been the love scene because one, it was hot. Remember all them covers?

Brown: Hot as hell. Heavy blankets.

Hall: Yeah. And they have such an awkward scene between the two of them.

Brown: Because it’s not awkward between us.

Hall: Yes. It’s not awkward between us, and it’s not awkward between them, except when…

Brown: Except when they gotta have sex. It’s my bad.

Hall: It’s true.

The arc of Regina’s character is all about forgiveness and redemption, even though her husband isn’t exactly a role model. Where did Trinity find the strength to forgive Lee-Curtis?

Hall: I think their relationship is bigger than the two of them. I think for Trinity, it was about God. She made a commitment and a vow to God and to that church, and there was no way, with how she felt about that covenant and how she was raised because of her mother, that she would walk away with it. She might walk away from it. She might redefine it. And also, I think a large part of her identity, like 70% is in being a First Lady. So she had to forgive.

Brown: Like Carmela and Tony [Soprano]. I was just watching Impeachment yesterday, thinking other sorts of parallels of black people stay. It’s bigger than just the two of them.

Hall: It’s bigger than just the two of them.

First Omen: Nell Tiger Free Lands Lead Role in Horror Prequel

According to Deadline, Game of Thrones alum Nell Tiger Free has officially been tapped for the leading role in 20th Century Studios’ upcoming horror prequel titled First Omen, the newest installment in classic The Omen franchise.

This marks her first major movie project since appearing in independent British films Broken and Settlers. She is also no stranger to the horror genre as she’s currently starring in Apple TV+’s psychological horror series Servant.

First Omen will be directed by Arkasha Stevenson from a screenplay she’s co-writing with Tim Smith. The film will be produced by David S. Goyer and Keith Levin for Phantom Four, with Smith serving as an executive producer. Further details about its plot and characters are still being kept under wraps.

Created by David Seltzer, The Omen franchise started in 1976, with the first film having been directed by Richard Donner. The story revolves around an antichrist child named Damien who gets adopted by the Thorn family. Due to the first installment’s success, it was followed by three more sequels and a remake with a combined worldwide gross of over $250 million at the box office. Damien has been played by different actors in each installment, including Harvey Spencer Stephens and Sam Neill.

SNK Expresses Interest in Reviving SNK vs. Capcom

Fighting games are a decent portion of SNK and Capcom’s individual libraries, but the two companies used to make crossover fighting games with each other’s properties. The SNK vs. Capcom series has been inactive for decades, but it appears as though at least SNK is interested in reviving that relationship.

According to an interview with Video Games Chronicle, Yauyuki Oda, who was producer on multiple recent fighting games like Samurai Shodown, SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy, and The King of Fighters XIV, said he was into the idea of bringing those crossover games back.

“Definitely in the future, that’s something that I think everybody on all sides, in both parties, are interested in making a reality,” he said.

While he spoke on Capcom’s behalf, a company he used to work for, he admitted that SNK hasn’t talked “in detail” with Capcom yet.

“We haven’t really talked in detail with anybody at Capcom about it. It might have come up as a vague comment,” said Oda. “However, we have a lot of experience [in crossovers] with things like Akuma and Geese in Tekken, Terry [Bogard] in Fighting EX Layer, Terry in Smash Bros., and Baiken in Samurai Showdown. But recently, we haven’t actually done anything with Capcom, even on character collaboration stuff. So that poster [at Evo], in our sense, was the first step towards maybe something like that happening in the future.”

The posters he referred to were at Evo 2022, which showed both Capcom and SNK fighters officially together on the same piece of art. Some thought this was leading up to a special Evo announcement that never came. However, it seemed as though the reaction to that art did show how much fans want another SNK vs. Capcom or Capcom vs. SNK.

“Especially after we saw the reaction to the [posters], it helped us reconfirm that that is probably one of the most wanted things from the fighting game community across the entire world,” he said.

Oda also noted that waiting another 20 years would be too long for him and that they will “try and get it done in 10.”

Nothing has been confirmed and Capcom hasn’t replied. But Capcom vs. SNK 2 Director Hideaki Itsuno told Polygon in an oral history on the series posted in January 2021 that he would “love to eventually make Capcom vs. SNK 3” and that he had two ideas for a one-on-one fighting game. He then stated that it was more about getting an opportunity to make it and that there was a “decent but far from confirmed chance” of him personally working on another fighting game. Itsuno is now working on the recently confirmed Dragon’s Dogma 2. He also noted that they were working on a third entry for the PlayStation 2, but it was canceled when SNK filed for bankruptcy.

SNK vs. Capcom: The Match of the Millennium was rereleased on the Switch in early 2021. SNK Producer Adam Laatz told Nintendo Life that Capcom was integral in getting that port released and that he hoped that it would “serve as an opportunity for more releases to come in the future.”

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Gets Release Date, NSFW Trailer

A new NSFW trailer for the upcoming Netflix anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners has been released, teasing what’s to come in the show ahead of its premiere on September 13.

The new trailer not only confirms the release date for the upcoming anime but also shows off some of the extremely graphic sections that will appear in the series. Edgerunners is a 10-episode anime set in the world of 2020’s Cyberpunk 2077. You may know Studio Trigger from their work on Gurren Lagann and Kill la Kill. Outside of the intro, the series’ music will be composed by Akira Yamaoka, best known for his work on the Silent Hill series of video games.

“Cyberpunk: Edgerunners tells a standalone story about a street kid trying to survive in a technology and body modification-obsessed city of the future,” reads the series’ official synopsis. “Having everything to lose, he chooses to stay alive by becoming an edgerunner — a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk.”

Edgerunners is one of several video game anime that continue to top the charts for Netflix and a continuation of a relationship between the streaming service and CD Projekt Red. Their past collaboration, the live-action adaptation of The Witcher, brought new people into the franchise and made waves online with its meme-able music and memorable moments.

The Son Teaser Trailer: Hugh Jackman & Laura Dern Lead Family Drama

Sony Pictures Classics has dropped a teaser trailer for The Son, Florian Zeller’s latest family drama feature that stars Hugh Jackman and Laura Dern. The film is currently slated to make its debut in select theaters on November 11.

The Son teaser features Hugh Jackman as a father trying to mend his relationship with his teenage son, who’s seemingly still struggling with the outcome of his parents’ divorce — especially when it looks like his father has completely moved on with a new wife and a baby.

The Son is directed by Florian Zeller from a screenplay he co-wrote with Oscar winner Christopher Hampton. The original play first opened in London in 2019 and, like his previous stage plays, earned rave reviews. The upcoming film stars Hugh Jackman, Laura Dern, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Hopkins, and Zen McGrath.

“The film centers around Peter, whose busy life with new partner Beth and their baby is thrown into disarray when his ex-wife Kate turns up with their teenage son, Nicholas,” reads the synopsis. “The young man is troubled, distant, and angry, playing truant from school for months. Peter strives to be a better father, searching to help his son with those intimate and instinctive moments of family happiness. But the weight of Nicholas’ condition sets the family on a dangerous course.”

The adaptation will be produced by See-Saw’s Iain Canning and Emile Sherman along with Christophe Spadone, who is reuniting with Zeller after last year’s The Father. The producers are Joanna Laurie and Christophe Spadone.

Zeller’s feature directorial debut The Father was based on his award-winning 2012 play Le Père and starred Oscar winners Olivia Colman and Anthony Hopkins. The film previously won two Oscars out of six nominations, including Best Actor for Hopkins and Best Adapted Screenplay for Zeller and Hampton.

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Sets U.S. Box Office Milestone

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero has already been a massive success in Japan, and now that success is translating overseas.

According to a recent update from Crunchyroll, the recently released film has just passed a major milestone for anime films in the United States, reaching $30 million at the box office. This makes it the fifth-highest-grossing anime film of all time in the country, and bumps it past Dragon Ball Super: Broly as the highest-grossing Dragon Ball film ever in United States box office history.

After opening on August 19 in the United States, the film was helped by its major popularity and by the fact that there were no other major blockbusters out in theaters at the time. That, partnered with the film being the widest theatrical release ever for Crunchyroll in North America — including being presented in formats like IMAX — led to the film’s massive climb at the box office.

While Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero is unlikely to take over the #1 spot in the U.S. box office for anime films (which belongs to Pokémon: The First Movie – Mewtwo Strikes Back at $85 million), it can continue to climb. The fourth spot is currently held by Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie, which earned $34.5 million during its run in 2022 and could see itself drop to five if Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero continues to perform well.

“The Red Ribbon Army was once destroyed by Son Goku. Individuals who carry on its spirit have created the ultimate Androids, Gamma 1 and Gamma 2,” reads the official synopsis for the film. “These two Androids call themselves ‘Super Heroes.’ They start attacking Piccolo and Gohan … What is the New Red Ribbon Army’s objective? In the face of approaching danger, it is time to awaken, Super Hero!”

New Mafia Game Confirmed by Hangar 13

Developer Hangar 13 has said very little officially after 2016’s Mafia III; reports and leaks of past projects have done most of the talking. One of those reports stated the team was working on a new Mafia game, which the studio just confirmed.

The news broke through a post on the Mafia website containing interviews meant to celebrate the franchise’s 20th anniversary. The feature runs down the series, how they got involved, its impact, 2020’s remake of the first game, and more before pivoting to Mafia‘s future, which General Manager Roman Hladík spoke rather plainly about.

“I’m happy to confirm we’ve started work on an all-new Mafia project!” he said. “While it’s a few years away and we can’t share anything more right now, we’re really excited to keep working on this beloved franchise and to entertain our players with new stories.”

He didn’t go into more detail, but this lines up with a previous report. In May, Kotaku reported that a new entry was “early in development” and would be using Unreal Engine 5, not the engine used for Mafia: Definitive Edition, Mafia II: Definitive Edition, and Mafia III, all of which had technical problems. It’s also expected to be a prequel, but Hladík did not corroborate that part of the story.

Hangar 13 was also reportedly given a choice to make another Mafia game in 2017 or something new. The team chose the latter, but allegedly went through three failed or canceled games in the years since: a musical game codenamed Rhapsody, a third-person action game codenamed Volt, and a loot-based ARPG codenamed Mosaic. Hangar 13 also had layoffs in 2017 and 2018 and lost some of its leadership in May 2022. With all of this turmoil, it appears as though Hangar 13 is trying to find stability through an established franchise.

The Exorcist Trilogy: Ellen Burstyn Reveals Why She Agreed to Return for Horror Sequel

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Oscar winner Ellen Burstyn has finally broken her silence regarding her unexpected franchise return in Universal Pictures and Blumhouse’s upcoming The Exorcist sequel. The veteran actress was asked why out of all the other Exorcist films in the franchise, she decided to join director David Gordon Green’s newest version of the horror sequel.

Burstyn confirmed that she initially turned down Universal Pictures and Blumhouse’s offer despite the “whole bunch of money” that came with the deal. However, due to their determination to get Burstyn’s most coveted “yes,” the studios surprised the Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore actress when they doubled their offer.

“You know, what happened was I’ve turned down many versions of The Exorcist 2,” Burstyn shared. “I’ve said no every time. This time they offered me a whole bunch of money and I still said no. And then they surprised me and they came back and said, ‘We doubled the offer.’ I said, ‘OK, let me think about this.’ I thought, ‘That’s a lot of money. Let me think about it.'”

Despite being taken aback by their second offer, this definitely helped Burstyn with her final decision. After realizing that the money would hugely benefit her scholarship program for young actors, she ultimately signed on to the project.

She continued, “The next thought that came to mind was: ‘I feel like the devil is asking my price.’ And the next thought that came to mind was, ‘My price is a scholarship program for talented students at our master’s degree program at Pace University. That’s my price.’ So I then went back and upped their up and ended up getting what I want. And I’ve got a scholarship program for young actors.”

The Exorcist trilogy is not being developed as a remake. Rather, it serves as a direct sequel to the original horror feature, which was adapted from William Peter Blatty’s novel, with Halloween’s David Gordon Green directing from a screenplay he is co-writing with Scott Teems, Danny McBride, and Peter Sattler.

Oscar-winner Ellen Burstyn is returning to the franchise for the upcoming films, reprising her iconic role as Chris MacNeil over 40 years since the original film debuted in 1973 for which she received an Oscar nomination for Best Actress. Joining Burstyn is Oscar nominee Leslie Odom, Jr. (Hamilton, One Night in Miami) and Emmy winner Ann Dowd (The Handmaid’s Tale).

The sequel will be produced by Jason Blum, David Robinson, and James Robinson, with Green, McBride, and Couper Samuelson set to executive produce. It will be a co-production between Blumhouse and Morgan Creek Production, with Ryan Turek to oversee the project on behalf of Blumhouse.

The original The Exorcist centered around the sudden demonic possession of a 12-year-old girl named Regan (Linda Blair) after encountering an old Ouija board. In a last attempt to save Regan, two Roman Catholic priests (Max von Sydow, Jason Miller) are enlisted to conduct an exorcism on her.

Paget Brewster Once Thought She Was Getting Fired From Friends

Paget Brewster’s exploded onto the acting scene following her appearance in the hit television series Friends in the late 90s. However, for a moment, Brewster was unsure if she’d get the chance to appear in the series at all following a hairdressing malfunction.

Speaking to ComingSoon on her appearance in the 2022 film Hypochondriac, Brewster recounted a story about a time she believed she would be fired from the series before she ever even got to be on camera.

“I thought I was going to get fired though, at one point, because we had been rehearsing and then I went in to have my hair done and the hairdresser…I had a black bob, like, you know, bangs,” said Brewster. “I had black hair, short bob with black bang and the hairdresser cut my hair shorter and stripped it for about six hours and then dyed it red. And when the producers came down to the stage to watch one of our later rehearsals, the producer, Kevin Bright, said ‘Stop, what did you do? Who did that to your hair?’ And I was like, you know, ‘The…your hairdresser did it.’ And he started yelling and he said, ‘I hired her because of her black hair!’ And so I just walked upstairs and went into my little tiny dressing room and put my magazines in my bag and waited, because I thought, ‘Oh, I’m fired because the guy dyed my hair red.'”

Thankfully for Brewster, producer Kevin Bright was just kidding, and quickly came up to Brewster’s dressing room to tell her that he simply was trying to send a message out to the crew members on Friends.

“And then I hear these footsteps like bam, bam, bam, bam, coming up towards the door, and Kevin Bright jumped in the door and he was like, ‘I didn’t hire you because of your black hair,'” Brewster said. “‘I just can’t have people making unilateral decisions without my input.’ And I think you look great and I hope you’re okay with it being red.’ And I was like, ‘Yes, am I fired?’ And he was like, ‘No, no, no, you’re great. I think you’re funny. Come on, let’s go back down and rehearse. I just needed that guy to know he just can’t make decisions without talking to me.'”

Despite everything working out, Brewster did have a theory that her hair was changed to differentiate herself from Courtney Cox’s Monica, who was set to have a romantic relationship with Matthew Perry’s Chandler.

“But it turns out the next person that Chandler fell for was Monica,” said Brewster. “So there was a little bit of…and the hairdresser had changed my hair because he…my hairstyle was the same as Monica. So he thought he was doing the right thing. But I think there was a little bit of Kevin Bright and [Marta Kauffman] and [David Crane] thinking, “Oh, we know Chandler’s going towards Monica and this girl has short dark hair too.” I don’t know. You know, I don’t know what they were thinking, but that was a bad few minutes when I thought I was going to get fired from Friends.”

Thankfully for Brewster, things ended up well for her, and she continued on to have a great run on the hit series, and an incredibly long career in Hollywood.

Batman: Caped Crusader Receiving Intense Interest From Multiple Streamers

While Batman: Caped Crusader is no longer set to stream on HBO Max, it is receiving interest from a number of different streaming companies and now we know the frontrunners for the upcoming animated series.

Batman: Caped Crusader is currently being shopped around by Warner Bros. Animation, along with a variety of other animated films and series. These include Merry Little Batman, The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Toons Movie, Bye Bye Bunny: A Looney Toons Musical, Did I Do That to the Holidays: A Steve Urkel Story, and The Amazing World of Gumball: The Movie. However, it’s the Batman project receiving the most interest. The Hollywood Reporter notes that Apple, Hulu, and Netflix all have “intense interest” in the series.

According to the report, it’s not a quality issue with the programs that saw them no longer set for HBO Max, but rather one of strategy and money. The top brass at Warner Bros. simply believes that selling off the films and other content will make them more money than airing them on their own streaming platform.

Billed as a more adult animated series focusing on the iconic Batman, Batman: Caped Crusader will be led by Bruce Timm, J.J. Abrams, and Matt Reeves. While not much of the plot is known, it’s said to be a reimagining of the character that aims to bring things back to their noir roots, and focuses on the earlier years of Batman’s journey through Gotham City as a crimefighter, before he befriended Commissioner James Gordon and the GCPD.

Echo: Production Wraps on Upcoming MCU Disney+ Show

The upcoming Disney+ series Echo has officially wrapped production, with star Alaqua Cox sharing a heartfelt message on her Instagram at the end of the show’s filming.

In an Instagram story, Cox shared a screenshot of a text message that the actress sent to her late father. The message simply explains that production had finished, with Cox adding in her story that she knows her father is proud of her and that she misses and loves him so much. The actress also reposted a photo from another account that celebrated the end of production as well.

Echo will feature the return of Alaqua Cox as she reprises her role as Maya Lopez after debuting in last year’s Hawkeye, where it was revealed Maya had a long history with Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin. Joining D’Onofrio are Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Zahn McClarnon (Fargo), Devery Jacobs (Reservation Dogs), Cody Lightning, Chaske Spencer, Tantoo Cardinal, and Graham Greene.

In Marvel Comics, Echo — the adoptive daughter of the Kingpin — is a deaf Native American woman who possesses the ability to perfectly copy other people’s movements while also being a highly capable martial artist and acrobat.

Marion Dayre is the lead writer for the Hawkeye spin-off. The writers’ room also includes Bobby Wilson, Rebecca Roanhorse, Shoshannah Stern, Josh Feldman, Kaitlyn Jeffers, Steven Paul Judd, Jason Gavin, Ken Kristensen, Dara Resnik, and Jessica Mecklenburg.

Echo is set to premiere sometime in the summer of 2023.

Star Trek Sequel Loses Director to Marvel, Paramount Issues Statement

After accepting the job to direct the upcoming Fantastic Four film, director Matt Shakman has left his position as director of the next Star Trek film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Shakman — who was initially set to direct the upcoming fourth Star Trek film in its rebooted series — has dropped out of the film due to the scheduling issues that will arise now that he’s joined Fantastic Four. The move was confirmed by Paramount Pictures, which said in a statement that, while they regret the decision, they are grateful for his time spent on the property.

“Matt Shakman is an incredibly talented filmmaker, and we regret the timing didn’t align for him to direct our upcoming Star Trek film,” said Paramount Pictures. “We are grateful for his many contributions, are excited about the creative vision of this next chapter, and look forward to bringing it to audiences all around the world.”

Shakman is best known for his directorial work in the television world, having directed the hit Disney+ series WandaVision, as well as various episodes of shows like Game of Thrones, Succession, Mad Men, Six Feet Under, The Boys, House M.D., Fargo, and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

It’s been quite some time in between Star Trek films, with the last film, Star Trek Beyond, releasing in 2016. Since then, Paramount has been doing market research into potential audience interest for another Star Trek film and determined that fans still cared enough about the cast for another movie to be made with them.

Shia LaBeouf Addresses FKA Twigs’ Allegations, Reveals He Almost Committed Suicide

Shia LaBeouf has opened up about the abuse allegations that were made against him by artist FKA Twigs, acknowledging them as true while stating that he will “owe” for the rest of his life.

In a recent appearance on actor Jon Bernthal’s podcast Real Ones, LaBeouf addressed the many abuse allegations that were brought against him in a 2020 lawsuit by FKA Twigs. While LaBeouf didn’t mention the artist by name, he did confirm that he had done bad things, without going into too many specifics.

“I hurt that woman,” LaBeouf said (via Variety). “And in the process of doing that, I hurt many other people, and many other people before that woman. I was a pleasure-seeking, selfish, self-centered, dishonest, inconsiderate, fearful human being…When I think about what my life has become, and what it is now, like what my purpose is now… I need to be useful. And when I look at this #MeToo environment, there’s not a whole lot of dudes that are taking accountability.”

LaBeouf also admitted to “cheating on every woman” that he had ever been with, including doing what he called “manipulative” things such as never telling his partners that he had cold sores. He also said that he realizes he will “owe” for the rest of his life, and has a long list of people to make amends to.

“I f**** up bad,” LaBeouf said. “Like crash and burn type shit. [I] hurt a lot of people, and I’m fully aware of that. And I’m going to owe for the rest of my life.”

LaBeouf also touched on how he felt when the allegations immediately became public, saying that his first reaction was to try and fight them via social media before calling FKA Twigs “a saint” that saved his life in the long term.

“Had she not intervened in my life and not created the avenue for me to experience ego death, I’d either have a really mediocre existence or I’d be dead in full,” LaBeouf said, while also revealing that shortly after the allegations, he contemplated suicide. “I went and loaded up a gun and sat on my table. I was gonna kill myself.”

As of now, LaBeouf says that he believes his purpose in life now is to be “a billboard for a principled way of living,” and seems to hint that his goal is not to follow in the footsteps of other actors accused of things and immediately try and go after the woman or “win a court case.”

“I’m in the tribe of the f***-ups. I’m a very public sinner, a very fallible person in the public sphere,” LaBeouf admitted. “What I think now my purpose is, is to not do… the other examples that we’ve had of how to navigate something like this — which is to go after the woman, or try to win a court case, or get back into a fucking movie or like get back on at all…My purpose, and I mean this with every fiber of my being, is to be instructive with my life, so that I can be an advertisement, like a billboard, for a principled way of living.”

After dating for about a year after meeting on the set of the 2019 film Honey Boy, FKA Twigs later sued LaBeouf in 2020, alleging the actor of sexual battery, physical, and verbal abuse. The artist claimed that LaBeouf had done a variety of things to her, including being physically violent and strangling her, knowingly infecting her with an STD, and that he shot stray dogs with a gun to get into character for his film The Tax Collector.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Gameplay Is Full of Team Ninja’s Signature Style

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty was one of the more unexpected reveals at Xbox’s summer showcase. The debut trailer didn’t have any gameplay, just cinematics to set the tone. However, Koei Tecmo has now released a gameplay trailer for the game, showing off the fast melee action Team Ninja is known for.

The trailer is just over a minute long, but rapidly cuts between a whole of enemies and different moves, yielding a decent glimpse into what it will play like. The nameless protagonist can use fast offensive attacks and defensive maneuvers in ways that look like a mix of Nioh and Ninja Gaiden, two of the team’s most popular series. Team Ninja describes it as a “masocore” game, meaning it will still keep up the challenge found in those two franchises, as well. Players will be able to get a better look at the game before it comes out in early 2023 as it will be shown during Koei Tecmo’s Tokyo Game Show presentation on September 16.

IGN also reported that Wo Long will have bigger and more vertical levels, which is why the main character can jump (as opposed to Nioh, which didn’t have a jump button). There will also be no stamina gauge and it will focus more on faster action, both of which stem from its commitment to Chinese martial arts. The team even mocapped actual Chinese martial arts practitioners, but dialed those actions up by hand to make them more fantastical.

Shia LaBeouf Shares Emails & Texts Claiming He Quit Don’t Worry Darling

Following a claim from director and actress Olivia Wilde that she had to fire Shia LaBeouf from Don’t Worry Darling, the actor has come forward with his own side of things, alleging that he quit the film.

LaBeouf’s claims dispute the notion that Wilde had to fire him from the film, with the actor noting that he was actually the one that chose to leave production due to lack of rehearsal time for himself and the other actors. The claim comes in the form of an email letter sent to Variety from LaBeouf himself, addressed to Wilde, with LaBeouf claiming to be more than 600 days sober and also noting that he’s speaking out because he doesn’t want his newborn daughter to eventually read things that he feels are not true.

“You and I both know the reasons for my exit,” reads part of the letter from LaBeouf. “I quit your film because your actors & I couldn’t find time to rehearse. I have included as a reminder the screenshots of our text exchange on that day, and my text to Tobey … Firing me never took place, Olivia. And while I fully understand the attractiveness of pushing that story because of the current social landscape, the social currency that brings. It is not the truth. So I am humbly asking, as a person with an eye toward making things right, that you correct the narrative as best you can. I hope none of this negatively effects you, and that your film is successful in all the ways you want it to be.”

Variety also notes that, according to the texts provided by Shia, LaBeouf and Wilde met in person on August 16, 2020, with Wilde texting him later that night. “Thanks for letting me in on your thought process,” the text reads. “I know that isn’t fun. Doesn’t feel good to say no to someone, and I respect your honesty. I’m honored you were willing to go there with me, for me to tell a story with you. I’m gutted because it could have been something special. I want to make clear how much it means to me that you trust me. That’s a gift I’ll take with me.”

The report also notes that the texts were sent before the production team on Don’t Worry Darling learned of Shia’s immersive acting method. However, LaBeouf claims he quit the film the following day, on August 17, 2020, and even included a video (below) that Wilde allegedly sent him a few days later in which she is seen saying that she is “not ready to give up on this yet” and even seems to hint at tension between LaBeouf and actress Florence Pugh, with Wilde noting that the tension would be a “wake-up call for Miss Flo.”

“I feel like I’m not ready to give up on this yet, and I too am heartbroken and I want to figure this out,” Wilde says. “You know, I think this might be a bit of a wake-up call for Miss Flo, and I want to know if you’re open to giving this a shot with me, with us. If she really commits, if she really puts her mind and heart into it at this point and if you guys can make peace — and I respect your point of view, I respect hers — but if you guys can do it, what do you think? Is there hope? Will you let me know?”

Final Live-Action Fullmetal Alchemist Film Gets U.S. Release Date

Netflix has announced a U.S. streaming date for the upcoming final live-action Fullmetal Alchemist film, titled Fullmetal Alchemist The Final Alchemy.

Fullmetal Alchemist The Final Alchemy will premiere on Netflix on September 24. The first of the live-action Fullmetal Alchemist films premiered all the way back in 2017, while Fullmetal Alchemist the Revenge of Scar, the first of two sequels, debuted just last week in the United States.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Final Chapter – The Avenger Scar opened in Japan on May 20, 2022, and features a storyline that sees protagonist Edward Elric face off against Scar. The second film, Fullmetal Alchemist: Final Chapter – The Last Transmutation, known in the West as Fullmetal Alchemist The Final Alchemy, premiered in Japan on June 24, and depicted the final battle of the Fullmetal Alchemist series.

Netflix’s Blockbuster Series Gets a Release Date & First Pics

Netflix has announced the premiere date for its upcoming comedy series Blockbuster, centered around the once-prominent chain of video stores.

Blockbuster is set to premiere through Netflix on November 3. The series will be composed of 10 episodes, each lasting around 30 minutes. It stars Randall Park as Timmy Yoon, Melissa Fumero as Eliza Walker, Tyler Alvarez as Carlos Herrera, Madeleine Arthur as Hannah Hadman, Olga Merediz as Connie Serrano, JB Smoove as Percy Scott, and Kamaia Fairburn as Kayla Scott.

Mack & Rita Trailer: Diane Keaton Leads Comedy Film

Lionsgate has released the official trailer for Mack & Rita its upcoming comedy starring Elizabeth Lail and Diane Keaton. The video features 30-year-old writer Mack, who has an old soul. She unexpectedly transforms into the 70-year-old version of herself after doing a past life regression session in an attempt to ease her mind. The film will be available for streaming on Premium video-on-demand on September 1.

Mack & Rita is directed by Katie Aselton from a screenplay written by Madeline Walter and Paul Welsh. Joining Lail and Keaton are Taylour Paige (Zola), Elizabeth Lail (You), Amy Hill (All-American Girl), Lois Smith (Marjorie Prime), Wendie Malick (Just Shoot Me!), Simon Rex (Scary Movie films), and Dustin Milligan (90210).

“When 30-year-old self-proclaimed homebody Mack Martin reluctantly joins a Palm Springs bachelorette trip for her best friend Carla, her inner 70-year-old is released — literally,” reads the synopsis. “The frustrated writer and influencer magically transforms into her future self: ‘Aunt Rita.’ Freed from the constraints of other people’s expectations, Rita comes into her own, becoming an unlikely social media sensation and sparking a tentative romance with Mack’s adorable dog-sitter, Jack. A sparkling comedy with a magical twist, Mack & Rita celebrates being true to yourself at any age.”

Don’t Worry Darling: Olivia Wilde Opens Up on Firing Shia LaBeouf

Prior to Harry Styles landing the starring role in Olivia Wilde’s upcoming film Don’t Worry Darling, actor Shia LaBeouf had won the part. However, he was later let go from the project, and in a recent interview, Wilde explained why.

Speaking to Variety about the upcoming film, Wilde revealed the reason why she had to part ways with the actor in 2020, just shortly before production was set to start. While the official reason was deemed to be a scheduling conflict, Wilde said that LaBeouf’s acting process was “not conducive” to what the team on the film was trying to accomplish.

“I say this as someone who is such an admirer of his work,” said Wilde. “His process was not conducive to the ethos that I demand in my productions. He has a process that, in some ways, seems to require a combative energy, and I don’t personally believe that is conducive to the best performances. I believe that creating a safe, trusting environment is the best way to get people to do their best work. Ultimately, my responsibility is to the production and to the cast to protect them. That was my job.”

Shortly after LaBeouf left production on the film, a number of allegations came to light on the actor, with his ex-girlfriend and Honey Boy co-star FKA Twigs suing him for sexual battery. LaBeouf would go on to leave his agency, the high-profile CAA, and enter an inpatient treatment facility. For Wilde, she just hopes that LaBeouf is able to heal and grow.

“A lot came to light after this happened that really troubled me, in terms of his behavior,” Wilde said. “I find myself just really wishing him health and evolution because I believe in restorative justice. But for our film, what we really needed was an energy that was incredibly supportive. Particularly with a movie like this, I knew that I was going to be asking Florence to be in very vulnerable situations, and my priority was making her feel safe and making her feel supported.”

Described as an audacious, twisted, and visually stunning psychological thriller, Don’t Worry Darling is directed by Olivia Wilde from a screenplay written by Katie Silberman, based on a story by Carey Van Dyke, Shane Van Dyke, and Silberman. It stars Oscar nominee Florence Pugh (Little Women, Midsommar), Harry Styles (Dunkirk), Gemma Chan (Eternals), KiKi Layne (The Old Guard), Chris Pine (All the Old Knives), and Wilde.

ComingSoon is pleased to offer an exclusive track from Jed Kurzel and Kevin Kiner’s score for the upcoming action film Samaritan. The track, titled “Good and Bad,” will arrive with the Lakeshore Records digital album on August 26 to coincide with the film’s release on Amazon Prime Video.

I’ve always loved collaborating with other composers and my experience with Jed Kurzel has been one of my favorite associations thus far,” says Kiner. “I believe you will find an extremely unique unorthodox sound as you listen to the Samaritan soundtrack. This is a goal I always set out to achieve when I am composing, but pulling off a truly fresh vibe and palette is easier said than done. I hope you have as much fun listening as we did working on this rollicking ride!”

Jeffrey Dean Morgan Joins Cast of The Boys Season 4

Another big actor is joining the upcoming highly anticipated fourth season of Amazon’s The Boys, as Jeffrey Dean Morgan has officially joined the cast in an undisclosed role.

The announcement came via The Boys‘ official Twitter account, where they welcomed Morgan to the cast and teased that they are unsure if he’d be getting any tights to wear. Morgan is yet another high-profile star set to join the upcoming season of the series, following the announcement that Susan Heyward would also be joining the show earlier this month.

For Morgan, this will be yet another opportunity to work with writer, producer, and showrunner Eric Kripke. The pair worked together when Morgan starred as John Winchester in The CW series Supernatural. Since then, Morgan has starred in a number of roles, most notably as The Comedian in the 2009 film The Watchmen and as the iconic villain Negan in The Walking Dead series.

The Boys is an irreverent take on what happens when superheroes, who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians, and as revered as gods, abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It’s the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about the supergroup known as “The Seven.” The show retains most of the comics’ boundary-pushing violence and sexuality while exploring the dark side of superhero celebrity and fame.

The Amazon Studios series stars Jack Quaid, Laz Alonso, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, and Karl Urban, along with Erin Moriarty, Antony Starr, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Chace Crawford, Nathan Mitchell, Claudia Doumit, and Colby Minifie.

Season three featured the addition of Supernatural’s Jensen Ackles as the infamous Soldier Boy, Katia Winter as Little Nina, Miles Gaston Villaneuva (Law & Order True Crime) as Supersonic, Sean Patrick Flanery (The Boondock Saints) as Gunpowder, Nick Wechsler (Revenge) as Blue Hawk, and Laurie Holden (The Walking Dead) as Crimson Countess.

The series, based on the comic book series created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, is created by Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen, who are also responsible for AMC’s Preacher, and Supernatural creator Eric Kripke.

Seasons one to three are available for streaming on Prime Video.
