A Minecraft Movie 2 has received a new title. The highly anticipated sequel to A Minecraft Movie, which was released in 2025, is currently dated for 2027.

Directed by Jared Hess, Warner Bros. Pictures‘ A Minecraft movie was one of the biggest hit movies of last year. Based on the popular Minecraft video game by Mojang Studios, the film grossed nearly $1 billion at the box office — $961.2 million — and is the third-highest-grossing video game film of all time following The Super Mario Bros. Movie and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.

What is the new title of A Minecraft Movie 2?

Per Deadline, it’s now been announced that the sequel to A Minecraft Movie has been officially titled A Minecraft Movie: Squared.

Plot details remain under wraps at this time. Hess is returning to direct the sequel, while Jason Momoa, Jack Black, Danielle Brooks, Matt Berry, and Jennifer Coolidge are reprising their respective roles as Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison, Steve, Dawn, the voice of Nitwit, and Marlene.

It’s also known that Kirsten Dunst, bets known for playing Mary Jane in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man movies, has joined the cast of A Minecraft Movie: Squared.

Deadline’s article also notes, “The studio announced that it’s holding a contest for fans to enter The Minecraft Movie Build Challenge  for a chance to have their build appear in the movie or end credits. The Builder Cape will be available later today through June 14 on TikTok, Minecraft, and Twitch. Contest is open to those over 16 years of age. The Microsoft-sponsored contest ends on July 6.”

A Minecraft Movie: Squared arrives on July 23, 2027.

The first film, meanwhile, is currently available to stream on Prime Video and HBO Max. The synopsis reads, “Welcome to the world of Minecraft, where creativity doesn’t just help you craft, it’s essential to one’s survival! Four misfits—Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison (Momoa), Henry (Hansen), Natalie (Myers), and Dawn (Brooks)—find themselves struggling with ordinary problems when they are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld: a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination. To get back home, they’ll have to master this world (and protect it from evil things like Piglins and Zombies, too) while embarking on a magical quest with an unexpected, expert crafter, Steve (Black). Together, their adventure will challenge all five to be bold and to reconnect with the qualities that make each of them uniquely creative…the very skills they need to thrive back in the real world.”

Terrifier Creator Damien Leone Announces New Horror Movie With Sam Raimi

Terrifier creator Damien Leone teams up with Sam Raimi for his next horror film. The new film from Lionsgate will be an original project following Terrifier 4.

What is Damien Leone and Sam Raimi’s new horror movie?

Lionsgate has announced that Leone will write, produce, and direct Tortures of the Damned, a new, original horror movie. It will also be produced by horror legend Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert through their Ghost House label, with no plot details shared at this time.

“We’re incredibly proud and excited to be partnering with Damien Leone on his first original film after the beloved Terrifier series,” said Erin Westerman, president, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group. “I join the huge contingency of horror fans—and Damien fans—inside Lionsgate who have been following his work and cheering him on. Damien is a true genre auteur with a singular vision, and we’re thrilled to help bring this bold new project to the screen while continuing to build on the incredible connection he has with fans around the world.”

Lionsgate also shared a teaser image on social media, though it doesn’t reveal much. The image shows the silhouette of an unknown white figure against a black background.

Lionsgate’s Scott O’Brien and Pavan Kalidindi will oversee the film, which will be executive produced by Ghost House’s Romel Adam and Jose Cañas.

Leone is best known for writing and directing all three Terrifier films, as well as All Hallows’ Eve, Frankenstein vs. The Mummy, and All Hallows’ Eve 2. The Terrifier franchise introduced mainstream audiences to Art the Clown, who also features in Leone’s other works. A fourth installment is currently in pre-production, which takes place in a new holiday setting and has been teased by Leone as the conclusion to the saga.

Sam Raimi is well known for helming Sony’s first Spider-Man trilogy starring Tobey Maguire. Before that, the director rose to fame with his cult horror franchise, Evil Dead. Rami’s most recent film was this year’s Send Help, which was positively received by critics and audiences alike.

Tortures of the Damned currently does not have a release date.

Harrison Ford‘s critically acclaimed TV show is welcoming a brand new cast member for its upcoming next installment. This comes over a month after Shrinking Season 3 concluded its 11-episode run on Apple TV.

Who is joining Harrison Ford in Shrinking Season 4?

According to Deadline, Guardians of the Galaxy vet Karen Gillan has been tapped to join the cast of Shrinking Season 4. This marks the Marvel star’s latest major TV project, after starring in the 2024 miniseries Douglas Is Cancelled. She will be joining returning series regulars Ford, Jason Segel, Christa Miller, Jessica Williams, Luke Tennie, Michael Urie, Lukita Maxwell, and Ted McGinley. Gillan recently worked with Segel on the dark comedy thriller film Over Your Dead Body, which Gillan produced and Segel starred in.

The acclaimed series is written and executive-produced by Segel, showrunner Bill Lawrence, and Brett Goldstein. Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer. Neil Goldman, James Ponsoldt, Randall Winston, Rachna Fruchbom, Ashley Nicole Black, and Bill Posley are also serving as executive producers. Since its debut in 2023, the show has maintained a high rating throughout its run. It currently has an average approval rating of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes.

At the moment, further details about Gillan’s Season 4 character are still under wraps. The next installment is expected to feature a time jump and an entirely new storyline for the show’s beloved characters.

In a previous interview, Lawrence opened up about the show’s future, confirming that they’re not planning to make Season 4 its last. “We aren’t going into this season as if it’s our last,” He said while teasing potential Seasons 5-6. “I was just with the writers, because we were figuring out the arcs for the next two seasons.”

Hollywood star Nicolas Cage has revealed that he changed his legal name in 2025. The Spider-Noir actor has explained a crucial reason why he went with this decision.

What did Nicolas Cage say about his name change?

While promoting his latest project, Prime Video’s Spider-Noir TV series, Nicolas Cage shared key details on what made him legally change his name to Nic Cage last year. Notably, his previous legal name since birth was Nicolas Kim Coppola.

Speaking with Variety, Cage explained, “I’m Nic Cage in life, and I’m Nic Cage on camera. ’Tis better to be the patriarch of my own little family than the clown cousin on the margins of someone else’s, so I decided I’m going to bring it on and be Cage.”

The Oscar winner mentioned that he took the surname Cage, which was partly inspired by Luke Cage, a character from Marvel comics. “Cage is a name that I liked coming across in the comics — I just thought he had a cool name — and I grew up in a very avant-garde, artsy family and there was talk about John Cage and the experimental compositions that he did.”

He added, “I was looking for something like James Dean; I was looking for something short and sweet. I thought, well, I’ll keep the name Nicolas because my father named me Nicolas — with French spelling, which has always frustrated me, because everyone adds an h. I don’t know why he gave me the French spelling! But he did.”

Speaking of his latest role in Spider-Noir, it’s not the first time the actor has stepped into the shoes of a Marvel character. He famously portrayed Ghost Rider in the past, featuring in 2007’s Ghost Rider and its 2011 sequel, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.

Cage’s other superhero-based roles involve playing Big Daddy in 2010’s Kick-Ass. Plus, he has already voiced Spider-Noir’s character in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse before appearing in Prime Video’s live-action adaptation.

This Hugh Jackman Film Is Struggling at the Box Office Despite Near-Perfect Rotten Tomatoes Score

The Hugh Jackman family-friendly film The Sheep Detectives is having a tough time at the box office despite getting rave reviews from critics and audiences. Blending CGI with live-action in a similar fashion to Babe, the mystery-comedy stars Hugh Jackman as shepherd George Hardy who is murdered in the village of Denbrook and whose case is pursued by his flock of sheep. The movie is an adaptation of the 2005 Leonie Swann novel “Three Bags Full,” which received positive reviews for its originality in the trope-laden detective genre. Releasing in US theaters on May 8, The Sheep Detectives has earned a fantastic 94% critics rating and 96% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes, yet the film might not be a box office success by the end of its run.

The Sheep Detectives may not break even at the box office

As of May 26, The Sheep Detectives has amassed a total of $86 million at the worldwide box office, with $47.3 million coming domestically and $38.8 million coming internationally, per Box Office Mojo.

While this box office haul is strong for a film that’s been in theaters for three weeks, the trouble is that it has a high production budget of $75 million, according to Variety. The general guideline for wide-release films is that they need to make around 2.5 times its budget to break even, so The Sheep Detectives is hoping to cross the $188 million mark to make a profit. Given its current total and the fact that it earned about $9 million domestically over its third weekend, the film could get close to that milestone, but it doesn’t have that much time to do so with the heavy competition in the summer theatrical calendar.

Case in point, The Sheep Detectives came out only one week after The Devil Wears Prada 2 (May 1) and two weeks after Michael (June 24). While these two blockbusters are not in the same genre as the mystery comedy, both have crossed the $600 million mark. Their appeal to family-friendly audiences and casual moviegoers have slowed the momentum of every other theatrical release within their orbit, including The Sheep Detectives. More than that, the film has had to compete with Mortal Kombat 2 (May 8), the surprise horror hit Obsession (May 15), and Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu (May 22).

Another reason for the movie’s struggles is due to particular mix of live-action and CGI. Apart from the Pokémon and Sonic the Hedgehog movies, which have greater brand recognition and a wider fanbase, other films in the genre have struggled to break even. 2021’s Clifford the Big Red Dog had a $64 million budget but only earned $107.4 million ($160 million break-even point), 2022’s Lyle, Lye, Crocodile had $50 million budget but only made $111 million ($125 million break-even point), and 2024’s IF had a $110 million budget but made $190.3 million ($275 million break-even point).

Given the pattern, it was expected that The Sheep Detectives would need to fight for its place at the box office. One long-range forecast for the movie from BoxOffice Pro projected that it would only make $10 million to $20 million in its domestic opener (the film went on to get $15 million). Its prediction was “on the low side” due to “the source material’s relatively low profile and Amazon MGM’s new-kid-on-the-block status as a theatrical distributor.”

The Sheep Detectives was originally titled “Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie” but was shortened later. The movie is quite different and much darker than the book, where the sheep are much more scared interacting with humans and the circumstances surrounding George’s death are, let’s just say, not as family-friendly.

The Hunting Wives Season 2 and 3 may not be far from release, according to a new update. The first season made its debut last year.

Dermot Mulroney confirms The Hunting Wives Season 2, shares major update on Season 3

One of the leading cast members of The Hunting Wives, Dermot Mulroney, has confirmed that Season 2’s production is now complete, reports Deadline. “Yes, we have completed Season 2. I’m not certain or not able to tell you yet when that’s coming out,” he said on the Tangle Podcast.

Additionally, Mulroney also shared a massive update on Season 3, saying, “And even better news is that Season 3 is in prep. I think they’ve got writers in the room, and they’re cooking up a third season already. And that should begin filming in the fall. So, that’s great news for all the fans of The Hunting Wives.”

Another cast member of the show, Brittany Snow, had already informed in March, on her Instagram, that Season 2 was done filming. Given the latest update, it seems The Hunting Wives Season 2 and Season 3 may arrive at some point in 2026 and 2027, respectively. Although an official announcement is yet to be made. Interestingly, Netflix hasn’t officially renewed the series for a third season yet.

Mulroney thinks the show has turned into a huge success in just a year of release. “It took on a life of its own. I guess it’s a year ago, it was picked up by Netflix out of left field and turned into a blockbuster hit.” He added, “So, to be involved with something that really ripened on the vine is so exciting.”

The Hunting Wives also features Malin Akerman, Jaime Ray Newman, Katie Lowes, Chrissy Matz, and Evan Jonigkeit, among others. Last year in December, John Stamos also joined the cast for Season 2. The Full House and Fuller House star is going to play the role of Chase Brylan.

The Hunting Wives Season 1 is currently available to stream on Netflix.

Beginning today, 2025’s One Battle After Another movie is now finally available for streaming on Prime Video. In the film, DiCaprio played a former revolutionary who must do everything he can to find his missing teen daughter. The unusual duo comes together to stop George and other animals who are transformed into raging beasts due to genetic manipulation. Hulu‘s releases this week (May 25-31, 2026) include Season 2 of a comedy series with an impressive Rotten Tomatoes score and a science fiction horror film.

One of Universal Pictures’ acclaimed comedy movies starring Kristen Wiig has finally been added to Netflix‘s library. During its theatrical run, the 2025 movie was an instant hit among critics and audiences. It currently has a Tomatometer rating of 85% on Rotten Tomatoes, while its Popcornmeter is slightly higher at 93%.

As of today, Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie is officially available to stream on Netflix. The live-action/animated hybrid musical comedy was based on the streamer and DreamWorks Animation’s popular interactive series of the same name. In the 2025 film, Wiig played the main antagonist, Vera, who’s described as a stylish and eccentric cat lady. The movie grossed more than $80 million worldwide against a reported budget of around $32 million.

Joining Wiig were Laila Lockhart Kraner, Gloria Estefan, Ego Nwodim, Kyle Mooney, Melissa Villaseñor, Thomas Lennon, Jason Mantzoukas, and Fortune Feimster. The film was produced by Steven Schweickart, who was the production supervisor or co-producer on some of DreamWorks Animation’s biggest blockbusters, including How to Train Your Dragon, The Croods, and Kung Fu Panda 4.

This $150 Million Film Could Become the Biggest Box Office Flop in History

Despite a substantial budget, the action film Desert Warrior starring Anthony Mackie and Ben Kingsley is on track to be one of the biggest box office flops of all time. Releasing on April 24, 2026, in the United States, the historical epic had a difficult production, to say the least, and received dismal review scores from critics and audiences. Taking place in seventh-century Arabia, the film follows Princess Hind (Aiysha Har) who refuses to become the concubine of Emperor Kisra (Ben Kingsley) and gains the assistance of the legendary bandit Hanzala (Anthony Mackie) in building an army to confront the empire. The film’s $150 million production budget comes backed by MBC Studios, whose parent company MBC Group is effectively controlled by Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Why Desert Warrior crashed hard at the box office

As of May 21, Desert Warrior has only earned a worldwide box office total of $742,066, with $704,280 coming domestically and $37,786 coming internationally, according to Box Office Mojo.

As reported by Deadline, the film had grossed $596,000 across 1,010 screens by April 30 through its opening week in the United States and the Middle East. While its full run in cinemas is not yet over (at the time of writing), the fate of the film as one of the largest, if not the largest, box office flops in history will be difficult to reverse. If we follow the general rule that wide-release movies need to make 2.5 times its budget to break even, due to marketing and other costs, then Desert Warrior would need to gross $375 million to make a profit. And from the looks of it, the film will have trouble breaking the $1 million mark, which is less than 1% of its production budget.

The only good news is that there are other films that have had greater net losses, depending on how box office results are calculated. One of the largest box office bombs is 2023’s The Marvels, which made $206 million on a roughly $374 million budget due to exorbitant post-production costs, according to Forbes. That would mean that the Disney superhero film would have needed to make about $935 million to break even and instead resulted in a net loss of $729 million. If we only use the raw numbers for each film’s budget and box office totals, Desert Warrior had a loss of $149 million and The Marvels had a loss of $169 million.

The historical action movie had an arduous time making it to the silver screen. While principal filming for Desert Warrior ended in February 2022, it took more than four years for it to release. During the film’s post-production, director Rupert Wyatt — who is best known for 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes — had reportedly quit the project due to creative differences but returned to finish the edit later, per Deadline. MBC wanted Wyatt to cut about 20% of the film and desired “more of a Braveheart-style version of the picture” while the director pushed for “nuanced, authored movie.” These differences ultimately led to “Wyatt being benched, though he remained in contact with MBC during his time on the sidelines.”

After a poor test run with audiences in July 2023, Desert Warrior was re-cut, but it still made large Hollywood studios hesitate to distribute the film. Sony Pictures Entertainment and Apple TV+ “were said to be uncertain” about the success of the movie, and some studio chiefs were unsure about the timing of the movie due to rising conflicts in the Middle East and it being “too soon after October 7 for a movie involving rampaging Arab tribes.” Desert Warrior is distributed by American indie company Vertical Entertainment.

Desert Warrior has a low 25% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 3.7 out of 10 rating on IMDB (as of May 21). The movie did not receive a CinemaScore.

Beloved Will Ferrell Movie Gets Theatrical Rerelease for 20th Anniversary

A beloved 2006 Will Ferrell comedy movie returns to theaters to celebrate its 20th anniversary. Columbia Pictures announced that Adam McKay’s third film, Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, will be released in select theaters later this year.

Talladega Nights will screen in select US theaters on June 28, 30, and July 1, 2026. Unlike many recent rereleases, it will not feature any new material or bonus content.

The sports comedy stars Ferrell as NASCAR stock car racing sensation Ricky Bobby, who must confront his own demons and face off against the French Formula One driver Jean Girard. The film’s original release received positive reviews, holding a fresh 72% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 186 reviews. It then went on to make over $163 million at the global box office, becoming a major hit. As for accolades, the film won the Teen Choice Award for Choice Summer Movie in 2006.

Ferrell, in particular, was praised for his comedic timing, winning the Choice Comedy Movie Actor award the following year. The film also picked up the Best Kiss award at the MTV Movie Awards in 2007.

Known for its quotable dialogue and hilarious bits, Talladega Nights remains a classic Adam McKay comedy. Since then, McKay has worked with Ferrell on other hits like Anchorman, Step Brothers, and The Other Guys. Spider-Noir Trailer Review: Nicolas Cage TV Show Feels Unique & Is Better for It

Prime Video has shared a new Spider-Noir trailer. The new Nicolas Cage-led show not only has a unique look, but offers up a fresh take on Spider-Man in the process.

The unique superhero show will first premiere on MGM+’s linear channel on May 25. Afterward, all eight episodes will debut globally on Prime Video on May 27, where it will be available to stream in two versions, “Authentic Black & White” and “True-Hue Full Color.”

“The series tells the story of Ben Reilly, a seasoned, down-on-his-luck private investigator in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life, following a deeply personal tragedy, as the city’s one and only superhero,” reads the official logline.

Spider-Noir trailer review

The Spider-Noir trailer leans fully into its absolutely noir-filled theme. The trailer highlights Cage’s Ben Reilly, a grizzled version of Spider-Man who is a down-on-his-luck private investigator. From the start, we’re looking at a much different version of the Spider-Man we’re used to. This one not only lives in an entirely different era, but is facing his own sets of problems as he struggles whether or not to step back into the persona of Spider-Man.

One thing the trailer does is lean into the absurdity of its premise. With the show taking place in the 1930s, Spider-Noir is clearly embracing its noir roots, and features a lot of tropes and stereotypes fans might associate with the time period. Cage himself has joked that his performance is a mix between Humphrey Bogart and Bugs Bunny, giving us a peek into just how unique his take on Spider-Man will be.

Spider-Noir’s trailer also briefly shows off the spin it will have on some of Spider-Man’s most iconic villains. Early in the trailer, we’re treated to the 1930s version of Flint Marko, who many might know as Sandman. The trailer also teases some run-ins with mob boss Silvermane, Tombstone, and more. Unlike present-day iterations, these characters all seem to have much more grounded and “realistic” looks and abilities, something that also leans heavily into the 1930s aesthetic for the show.

Game of Thrones’ Jon Snow Spin-off Show Gets Hopeful Update From Kit Harington

Kit Harington has provided a disappointing update on his Jon Snow spin-off show. Earlier reports say HBO was once in talks with Harington for a Jon Snow series set after the Game of Thrones finale. However, the project was reportedly scrapped more than two years ago.

In an interview with GamesRadar at Motor City Comic Con, Harington explained why the project was ultimately shelved at the time.

“My main thing is not wanting to go there and sort of do an injustice by the character,” Harington said. “As I’ve just said, I think he ended well. I think that he went where he was meant to. So, if you pick him up again, it needs to be for the right reasons.”

“But I did feel there was something left to say, and I did think the idea of exploring something kind of entirely around him, or a lot around him, would be interesting. Because remember in Game of Thrones, you’re part of a huge ensemble, and it would be quite interesting to look at a character dive more focused on [him]. And that’s why I was intrigued, but we couldn’t find the right thing, and so we put it down for the moment.”

Harington’s comments don’t completely rule out the show returning to development in the future. In fact, a recent report suggests that it could happen. However, it would be the first Game of Thrones project to tread completely new waters, with no source material to guide it.

The Game of Thrones universe has since expanded with House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. After the latter’s first season ends, the next project set to air on HBO will be House of the Dragon Season 3.

A report from Deadline reveals that Gracie Cochrane, who plays Ginny in the first season of the show, will not return for Season 2.

“Due to unforeseen circumstances Gracie has made the challenging decision to step away from her role as Ginny Weasley in the HBO Harry Potter series after season one,” Cochrane’s family said in a statement. “Her time as part of the Harry Potter world has been truly wonderful, and she is deeply grateful to Lucy Bevan and the entire production team for creating such an unforgettable experience. Gracie is very excited about the opportunities her future holds.”

Cochrane’s family did not divulge the specific reasons for the actor’s departure from the production. Following this, HBO supported the decision and essentially confirmed that a new actor will replace Cochrane as Ginny going forward.

“We support Gracie Cochrane and her family’s decision not to return for the next season of HBO’s Harry Potter series, and we are grateful for her work on season one of the show,” HBO said in a statement. “We wish Gracie and her family the best.”

The Harry Potter series is an ambitious, decade-long project with a cast chosen with the intention of carrying them through the show’s duration. Work on the second season began early, and following its official renewal recently, it will enter active production later this year.

HBO’s first season of Harry Potter will air in Christmas 2026, adapting the first book in the series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. The second season is expected to cover the entirety of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
