The film, which had reportedly been set to begin filming in the winter in Hawaii, co-starred Jack Black and saw Ice Cube join the project in June. The feature is set to be directed by Kitao Sakurai, who previously directed the fan-favorite smash hit Bad Trip for Netflix.

According to the report, producers on Oh Hell No made the request that the cast on the project be vaccinated, which led to Ice Cub departing the project. Neither Sony nor a personal representative for the star has commented on the news.

By departing the feature, Ice Cube stands to lose out on a $9 million payday. The move might come as a shock to some, as Ice Cube had been a prominent voice in wearing a mask and staying safe during the onset of the pandemic, even going so far as to sell merchandise featuring masks on them that saw proceeds benefit frontline health workers.
