Following the success of the Harry Potter reunion and competition shows, Warner Bros. TV Group boss Channing Dungey has said the company is having discussions about expanding its Harry Potter television catalog.

Dungey was speaking during the U.K. TV conference Content London, where she was asked by Variety about whether or not another television project based on Harry Potter would be coming. This comes following the success of HBO’s Harry Potter reunion, as well as the Helen Mirren-hosted Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Heroes game show that premiered last year.
“There is a tremendous amount of ambition for that and we are engaged in a number of different conversations,” Dungey said, before stating that though there’s not much more to discuss at the moment, but the fanbase for Harry Potter continues to be as active and passionate as ever.
“I wish I could tell you that something was imminent on the horizon but there is a lot of interest and a lot of passion for it, so absolutely,” said Dungey. “What’s great is that you see how the audience is so engaged and so ready. Our unscripted team did a fantastic Return to Hogwarts special for HBO last year, that resonated so tremendously, then we did a quiz show, The Tournament of Houses, that Helen Mirren was the host for. The audience is ready, they want to go, so we’re just [trying] to figure out what the right next step is.”

While the world of Harry Potter films remains up in the air following the lackluster performances of the Fantastic Beast films, it does seem like Warner Bros. Discovery is much invested in the Harry Potter franchise as a whole. Whether that materializes in new stories or simply more Harry Potter adjacent shows will have to wait to be seen.
